LATEST TRANSFER GOSSIP
Former Tottenham Hotspur manager Harry Redknapp believes Gareth Bale will stay at White Hart Lane.

"Spurs are within touching distance of becoming a Champions League club and Gareth has much to do with that," the Queens Park Rangers manager tells Sports Direct. "I think he's very happy at the club and although there's a lot of speculation I really don't see him leaving."

Wales international Bale, 24, has been strongly linked with a move to Real Madrid.

Memo to Harold.......Please concerntrate on your own job and keep your nose out of things that do not concern you.......You are not a TV pundit.....

He could always say "No Comment" or "I have more pressing matters to deal with at QPR"....that would be noval....

Looks like Cardiff are going to sign Etienne Capoue.

Cardiff City manager Malky Mackay hopes to conclude "delicate" negotiations to sign midfielder Etienne Capoue after having a bid accepted by Toulouse.
The Premier League new boys are thought to have offered close to £9m but must convince the 25-year-old France international his future lies in Wales.

"Ourselves and Toulouse have come to an agreement," Mackay confirmed.

"We've got to then have the conversation with Etienne and his advisors, they've been very professional in terms of what they're talking about as well.
"We've been in constant dialogue with them in the last week and Toulouse have been excellent to deal with.

"It's pretty delicate at the moment. We're in discussions and negotiations but it's something that's ongoing."

Capoue is thought to favour a move to Spain but Atletico Madrid have so far failed to match Toulouse's valuation for the five-time capped defensive midfielder, while Tottenham, Arsenal, Liverpool and Everton have all been linked with the player.

We were apparantly heavily linked last season to him. Would be a coup by Cardiff if they pull it off, great player.

£9 mill, clearly as long as it isn't us it's ok by the majority to spend fee's like this <steam> :headbang::emoticon-0121-angry

Norway;
Surely you've guessed by now that we are the only irresponsibly run club; we just throw money at problems every other club are doing it the right way......... lol

I love the fact that certain clubs are saying we are debt free so can just spend the increased revenue from the new Sky tv money. We will soon seen the fallout from that argument if money is needed to be spent in January..... it will still be ok because of course they have a bigger stadium capacity and more frugal owners.

I'm actually looking forward some clubs severely falling short this year.

Guessing you're discussing us? Our budget this year for transfers is around £25m. We are targetting (so far) younger players from leagues with less money so no one is being given 40-80k deals. If they play well they should have resale value. We have also undoubtedly budgeted to have some money available for January. (hoopers fee was paid with last Januarys funds)

The reason QPR got so much stick was that they spent heavily on famous names on the brink of retirement, and gave big long salaries to them without relegation clauses.

Much as it bugs you, we currently do have a bigger capacity, and when it comes to salaries we do have more frugal owners.

The fact is when the last figures were released we did have the lowest wage to income ratio (49%). if we get relegated our wage bill will not be half as big as many clubs who have gone down. We also include all the staff in that figure (including the catering staff!)Hell, we're paying hooper 10k less a week than you offered in the championship.

We made 16m profit last year. you made losses of 23m. you'd be better of holding your own board to account rather than trying to rubbish teams that, like them or loathe them, are currently being run as successful businesses.

Well said I would not however make any excuse for QPR as i have said from day one since TF took over ...we have to buy initial success to build on because our promotion winning team was in effect dis banded

If we have a team that is successful next year then with the improvements off the pitch then i fully expect us to buy another team .. if its with harold then expect big money all over again regardless of teh rules they will find a way around that. QPR will move to a bigger stadium and become an established premier league team i am certain of that

Edited for sake of arguments.

Not just talking about Norwich; selected fans from your board are not the only ones giving grief over the matter of outlay.

All the figures of salary for Hooper; wages other players maybe on etc are all available from reliable sources like the sun; daily star; the daily fail......
It's all guess work; but if I'm honest we probably did overpay. By how much? We probably will never know for definite.

I applaud you on your frugal owners; your bigger capacity stadium; the fact Hooper chose the Prem over the Champ but if you don't mind I'm going to support my club whichever league and financial state.

Thanks for the reasoned argument though.

Here's a suggestion.......keep your thoughts to yourself in the first place!!

I read and post here because this is a multi team forum, surely the whole point is to discuss things with other teams. I'm not being a WUM, but giving reasons backed up by facts as to why people might suggest other clubs are not making the same mistakes QPR made whilst still spending big money.

Thanks to DT for replying in a more open way. Glad someone can chat without getting their knickers in a twist.

Sorry HoopyD, not meaning to jump down your throat, of course we are all going to support our own. your comment of '

I'm actually looking forward some clubs severely falling short this year.'

struck a cord. Good luck for the coming season, you seem to be shifting more and more of the dead wood, and if he sticks around, i think barton could be an important figure for you.

As I said you seem very reasoned; I often read your board and I can tell you for sure that plenty of comments there strike a chord with me.
I make no apologies for my comment; call it jealousy or petty childlessness but watching MOTD this year will be a lot easier...... the football league show may be a different story though......

As for Barton; I get the impression he doesn't want to play for us; guess we will see his effort and commitment to our cause soon enough.

i don't expect you to have to HoopyD, we all have rivalries and what goes around comes around as far as karma goes, so any gloating over other teams is never a good plan.

There are question marks about where barton will end up, but if its with you he could give the fight and backbone you'll need to mount a good promotion challenge. As a person he's a bit of a prat it seems, but he impressed me with his grit before.

A mate of mine has just text me to say that we're getting Kyle Naughton from Spurs on a season long loan. Don't believe it myself.
