I think Spurs want to get rid of Townsend...would be surprised if he went to Hull. He would be looking for a top 10 team I would think, and could get one too...
His gambling penchant will seriously affect his prospects; lower level premiership willing to take the risk or dare I say it ambitious would be promotion contenders are more likely to be his destination. We can but hope.
Hull leave door open for Norwich and QPR as Bruce pulls out of race for Celtic's striking star Hooper By BRIAN MARJORIBANKS PUBLISHED: 22:59, 10 July 2013 | UPDATED: 23:20, 10 July 2013 Hull City last night ruled themselves out of the running for Gary Hooper, with Norwich and QPR leading the race for the Celtic striker. As Victor Wanyama put the finishing touches to his record-breaking £12.5million move to Southampton, Hull boss Steve Bruce revealed that he would not be returning with an offer for the Englishman after a reported £4.5m bid was rejected last month. Bruce’s need for a striker was all the more pressing after signing target Charlie Austin of Burnley failed a medical yesterday. But the manager of the Barclays Premier League newcomers said: ‘We had a bid for him [Hooper] rejected and I can’t see there being any change in that. 'We’ve got other irons in the fire and we hope we can get one or two strikers in before the start of the season. ‘It’s obvious that we struggled to score goals last season, so that has got to be the aim for us. We’ve still got six weeks before the season starts and we’re actively looking.’ Neil Lennon remains determined to hang on to his star striker — who the Parkhead club rate at £6m — but is bracing himself for further offers from QPR and Norwich City, with a move to Carrow Road thought to hold great appeal for the player. Boss Lennon will be anxious to use some of the money from Wanyama’s pending transfer to tie down some of his stars who have just 12 months left on their deals, including Hooper, Joe Ledley, Anthony Stokes, Kelvin Wilson and Georgios Samaras. Townsend has but one game in his locker but did well for us ... in the end most sides contained him well IMO ... If he went to Hull then he is more stupid that he looks
Townsend is a decent player but not good enough for a top 10 team............at the moment. He still has a lot to learn, holds on to the ball too long and more often than not shoots when others are in better positions. He could do a lot worse than to come to us and play in a team that is, hopefully, challenging for promotion rather than go to Hull or any other team fighting relegation and hardly getting a kick.
Apparently we're in for Javier Saviola and he'd be interested in coming to us. Apparently it's not about the money, it's the challenge he's after. Blah, blah, blah....... http://www1.skysports.com/football/news/11095/8820371/
Dunne.... another "experienced" player with injury history and big bucks!! Hadn't seen this for a while http://www.independent.ie/sport/soccer/dunne-looks-set-to-lead-qpr-promotion-charge-29417296.html
Lots of big money spends/ rumours from the smaller prem clubs, all greedily flashing the Sky cash. The gap will be bigger between this lot and the Championship, it was definitely the worst possible season to get relegated.
