Apparently Rachel Yankey disguised herself as a boy when she was a kid as girls couldn't play on her football team. Sounds like the plot of She's the Man.

There's a lady called Phoebe Hessel who is buried near to my house (not in a Fred West way, I hasten to add, but in the churchyard) - her story is amazing and includes a spell where she disguised herself as a man in order to fight on the frontline and serve alongside her lover.

Bob Parkhurst, reporting for duty.

Why? I'm not saying they earned this, but perhaps if they were paid more we would have some decent ones, rather than the best candidates going of into the City or wherever. As it stands, we get either second rate ones, or ones that are well off enough to not care about the money (i.e. out of touch).

You really think that paying them more will mean more decent MP's? Are you having a laugh? They get paid far too much already for what they do. To receive their wages and all the etc crap all they have to do is turn up for Parliament once a month. The pay rise won't change anything apart for making MP's even more money.

There is that old argument that the smartest and best educated people in this country know better than to go into politics. If we want to have properly good politicians, then paying them loads would be an incentive.

There will still be far to many lazy bastards (my uncle being one) that become MP's. It's basically a birth right for stuck up snobs that do **** all.
