Can I just take this moment to say how much I dislike Bent as a player and how it amazes me to this day the amount of money people have spent on him! The single most over rated player in any league! I assume this has been said many times. I just can't stand the guy.
he does score goals though! goal scorers are expensive commodities and that's why if we got hooper for £5m it'd be a bargain. you don't get too much from him, he can be quiet for 89 of the 90 minutes but for the one minute he comes alive he bags an all important goal.
Ridiculous!! An England international who scores goals for fun and one of the most clinical finishers I have seen grace a football field. I thought you would be saying we couldn't afford the wages or the fee, not that he is over rated!! We could have only dreamed of having a player like Bent playing upfront for us a couple of seasons ago. He's a proven goal scorer, when fit his record will tell you that.
I suppose. But Bent is pretty much only good at putting the ball in the net. Most other strikers at least run around and help the team. Bent is content to stand around the 18 yard box and wait for the ball to come to him. Obviously the Ipswich thing doesn't endear him to me either.
In the winter, Liverpool, Juventus, Barcelona and Arsenal stated they were scouting him, so in that perspective, yea Norwich is probably a bit of a disappointment.
i don't think there's anything wrong with that. some people might not agree with that but it can drive a player on to bigger and better things. if he comes here its because he fancies the premier league rather than norwich. ajax are a stepping stone club to top european leagues while norwich are a stepping stone within a top european league. maybe he feels he will stand a better chance of getting a big deal from within? who knows - i'm just speculating
This is a valid point, JK - a largely forgotten man. He was scoring a lot of goals for Leeds in the Championship before he joined us, whereupon he didn't get much play-time and never really got going. We should certainly not dismiss him too quickly and I thought there were (a few) signs, such as in the WBA game, that he could do a job for us. Let's hope he's settled in now, out of Holty's shadow and with no excuses, and will show his true potential in pre-season games.
Was just checking up on twitter, only interesting bits from McNally are that our new away kit is nicer than this: please log in to view this image
Mark Schwarzer has joined Chelsea on a free transfer following his release from Fulham. #CFC #FFC I so hope this is true...
