The HDM is reporting a stalling of new contract talks for James Chester: http://www.thisishullandeastriding.co.uk/story-19121742-detail/story.html?#axzz2UZKhrsRJ
we should sell him. Cash in before his contract runs out ! I don't think he's any better than Mcshane or Hobbs anyway !

The telling part seems to be:- "It's a tough negotiation because we have some gap between where the two parties are. There's a disparity between where we think the right figure is and the expectations of the player's agent. So it may boil down to him playing at City, or wherever his Agent tells him to play. Agents have a lot to answer for....
Question: If Chester's contract has a year to run and City are negotiating a new one - 2 years? - is it added on to the end of the current contract? Or does it replace the current one? I ask because (a) I don't know; and (b) It could have financial implications, for both parties.
I'd let him go this summer. I think he is overrated by City fans anyway, he's obviously a good player but definitely not as good as some people think. I also believe his lack of height will be exploited in the Premier League when we're under pressure a lot more. We should be able to hold out and get a decent fee for him and I have no doubt we'll get a replacement of similar quality. (his price is going to be inflated because of his age, someone of his quality who's 5 years older will be cheaper)
Who do you think we could get of similar quality for the money he is currently on? For example how much do you think Maynor Figueroa is on or Emerson Boyce would want? (and I regard them as established Premier League players rather than of similar quality)
Yes, most definitely and 3 years would be a minimum. Any less than that and we'd only be in the same boat this time next Summer.
Chester should be careful not to overplay his hand. On many occasions other clubs reported as showing interest leads to nothing. Also, if City see an opportunity to sign a good centre back at the right wage, he may not be first choice in Pl. He is unproven at Pl level and I have not forgotten his performance at Barnsley.
I have no idea what they'd go for, probably not value for money. We'd need to look abroad for that. For a short term solution there is Arne Friedrich, 33 years old, played many games for Germany and only playing in America. There's plenty of good defenders in Serie A at the lesser clubs, Paletta - Parma (has been playing in a 3 back for the 2nd half of the season and has done well) and von Bergen from Palermo, he did pretty well for a relegated team at a very unstable club.
Hobbs is better than chester but it would be daft to let chester go, i highly doubt we will replace his quality without substantial increases We should sign masi from juventus though, he will turn into a cracking player
Chester is unproven at premiership level and has 1 year left on his contract so he won't go for as much as you'd like to think. A replacement of similar quality who's 5 years older would be a 29 year old premier league centre half, in his prime, and the fee would probably be more than we get for Chezzy, also wages would be astronomical in comparison. If James does leave this summer (which I've no doubt he WON'T) I'd expect us to replace him with another classy youngish but unproven centre half, like Chezzington. I wonder how much Naaaaaarch would want for Ayala?
We can't be held to ransom by any player no matter how good he is. Losing Chester would be a blow, but no one is irreplaceable. From a footballing point of view (as opposed to a financial one) how many Premier League teams is Chester going to walk into? Villa and Newcastle are reportedly interested, but would he be first choice every week? He's more or less guaranteed a start here, so it depends if it is all about £££££££.
Not the James Chester thing again ? How many more threads on the subject ? Just leave the club to get the deal done which i expect they will. Loads of time to get this sorted out.
