I'm not happy when players have this kind of attitude. Someone should tell him to not be greedy until he's proven himself in the PL. If he does brilliantly, there won't be much we can do to stop him going, even if he signs a 5 year contract it makes no difference whatsoever as we know how contracts mean nothing this time. I'm really disappointed in him, didn't think he was like that.
He was at chester races this week with his family has no intentions of going anywhere just more hull daily mail we dont have anything else to write as normal. He is not even asking for a much bigger pay rise. Dont judge the player based on the mail
Can you tell me: a) How much is he currently on and b) How much more he wants over the contract THE CLUB have asked him to sign? Obviously from your post you must have this information, otherwise you'd look a complete twat.
Like what? How do we know he's suddenly a mercenary only interested in money? Are we really all over-reacting like this just because the HDM says talks are stalling over wage demands? What if his demands are just £10k a week and we won't even offer him that. Like I said earlier on another thread, when you look at what other defenders in the squad are earning, Chester can feel entitled to a massive payrise. He's been on peanuts for a player of his ability for too long, and despite that he hasn't been looking to leave us he's just got on with his football.
I would agree. IF and its a massive IF there are any issues it will be due to the agent. Why do some people take what the fail say as gospel ffs ?. James Chester wanted PL football and now that he has that why would he leave for mega bucks to a club that would sit him on the bench ? Its so easy to have a go without knowing and with no real proof. Some folks need to relax more imo.
Answered your own question there Tickler. Personally, I don't think he will leave but can't believe some are questioning his ability, he's far, far more suited for Premier League football than any of our other centre-backs.
It MUST BE.!!! We wont get much for Chester IF we sold him this summer. Would be a stupid act of folly. Better to keep him for the final year and stay in the PL. That is worth far far far more than any transfer fee would get us.
Have a word with yourself. If the club treat him fairly he'll be going nowhere. He's got good people around him who are from greedy, any talk of him getting all Billy Big Bollocks is wide of the mark. FACTOID.
I think we'll be able to get 3-4m for Chester, no more. Why does his replacement have to be premier league centre half? I honestly believe a weaker player defensively who is better in the air would be an improvement anyway. Stick with the 3-5-2 (as we are apparently going to) is going to mean teams will try to exploit the weakness on the wings. Benteke/Holt/Carroll/Ba vs Chester is a disaster waiting to happen.
Chester's already shown that he can hold his own against the bigger 'more dangerous' strikers. I wouldn't be scared at all when facing Demba Ba/Carroll etc. There's not many defenders who can beat them in the air anyway.
And this is what I mean about people overrating Chester. Chester doesn't have the strength to out muscle players who're strong in the air. Players are more intelligent in the PL, if we are playing with a defence of Hobbs, Faye and Chester (probably wont be) then every single time they're gonna make sure they are near Chester and there will be no physical challenge, there will be no chance of him beating them in the air, he will be destroyed. Chester's talent is his positioning, tackling and anticipating whether to go tight or back off.
If there's anything to James Chester's game that's his strong point, it's most definitely his intelligence and ability to read the game. That leads to his good positioning/anticipation/tackling. To say he's a small centre half 'n all that, he's got a bloody good head on him. He isn't over-rated at all, he's just a brilliant defender. Are you actually a Hull City fan?
I dont believe that money is the issue. It could the length of contract and buy out clauses etc etc IF a really big club came in for him. At the moment Chester should keep his head down and prove that he is indeed a PL player of quality. But again any issues could well be of the agents making and Not James Chester's.
3-5-2 is THE EXACT reason we NEED chester. You get the big bully boy center half in the middle, the 2 side center backs have to be quicker to cover and protect the flanks, the wing backs don't sit deep and defend most the time like full backs, they will get caught up the pitch on counter attacks, those 'wide' centre halves need to cover that space, which involves speed, reading of the game and solid tackling ability - ie james chester. If we're going to play 3-5-2 at premiership level we need to find another james chester, a big lump like jackory hobbs will be tormented on the side. Imagine Walcott running at him with a quarter of the pitch between him and the touchline or him and the next defender
Of course I'm a City fan, but that doesn't mean I'm going to overrate our players. I'm not the type of person who slates a player because of a few weaknesses but I'm also not the type of person who's going to pretend someone is good at something they're not. I already acknowledged what he's good at, but I'm unbiased or intelligent (you can choose) enough to realise he has a fairly big weakness that the opposition will try to exploit.
Well I don't need to know this information to know that the club won't have offered him a contract on a lower salary... Also I'd say, it doesn't take a rocket scientist to know that the club will have offered him more than he is on now. SO the same goes to you little fanboy. How the hell do you know he isn't asking for much more? If the talks are stalling, I presume it's because he isn't happy with the wage offer, not because the club are being incredibly stingy to its best prospect with a soon to run out contract. The point I'm making is when you have just worked so hard to get promoted and you're finally a key component to a team in the PL the last thing you should be niggling over is contract. He should be raring to go and he should just sign whatever the club is willing to offer because as I said, if he does well this season, he will most likely get a big offer from a bigger club and there won't be much we can do. I don't think stalling on contracts is the right mentality to have when you've just been promoted. Sadly, I only see this leading to him wanting to move next season, like Turner.
