You missed the point I was making. Strikers will pull off onto Chester, Hobbs and Faye aren't going to follow the striker that far and leave big gaps in the defence for deeper players to run into. Obviously sometimes they'll be able to help out, but at times Chester will have to take a man on his own.
Well Chester can leave for nowt IMO if he helps keep us in the PL for 2014/15 season. As for Turner he did not want to leave. We had to sell him thanks to Dufferman and his book keeping. A topic which has been well talked about already over the past few years.
Messed up with the quotes, did have a fairly long reply to TBM but I have to nip out in a sec. There is two ways to play the 3-5-2, sit deep and counter where the back 5 stay in position, wing back goes out to press the winger and a midfielder helps out with the press or to help with the attacking full back. Alternatively we can be more open and press further up and constantly have our side centre backs dragged out to help the wing back which is what the opposition will want to do anyway. I reckon the first option is the one we'll take, it'll give us the chance to compromise on the type of defender we use and more space for Sone when counter attacking. If we are going for the alternative option, then centre backs like Chester will be much more useful, I just don't see us pressing that high up the pitch.
I'd say lack of height would be more of a problem in the Championship then in the Prem. Usually defenders coming up from the Championship struggle with pace of players, I doubt Chester will though.
I agree with what you say here but there is no evidence Chester is bad in the air bar you looking at him and deciding this. Where Chester struggled was when wingers came in behind him and got a run on him because Elmo did not follow his man, that is Elmo's issue not Chesters. Three times last year big strikers went and played on Chester for five minutes then moved to play 85 minutes on Hobbs or who was on the left, i even remember mentionining it at the time, it was outstanding that this weak Chester had strikers refuse to play off him, clearly they knew they would get nothing from him. Chester was a class above any other centre half last season. We will lose him if we don't offer him something, none of us know how much he wants, and personally i would offer him it. If he then decides he wants to go next year we will at least get something for him.
I don't see how that makes a difference to his aerial ability? Surely even if he was playing in a back four he'd be targeted too.
I don't remember a side that really exploited the wide areas properly last season, a lot of teams sat back and just hit us on the counter. It'll be completely different next season, most teams will be controlling the game against us so we'll be playing a lot deeper which at the same time will make us more vulnerable to crosses. When playing 4 at the back it usually includes playing 2 natural wide men who will help the full back out, the weakness is no longer on the flanks therefore less crosses will come in.
He is wearing a city tracksuit in this picture his girlfriend jut put up, so can't he imagine he is about to leave just yet https://twitter.com/Rea_Simone/status/339831221385322496/photo/1
So you actualy say teams will control it more so therefore more vulnerable to crosses, yet then say we will conceded less crosses, how does that make any sense? I clearly see you play FM and think you are a genius. Your wrong completely, teams tended to try andget the ball wide quite often as what they tried to do was hit us on the counter on the wings as they knew Elmo and Brady where our weakest links defensively at the back, and this would then force our centre backs out of position.

Let's get something out of the way, I don't play video games and you need to read my posts properly. I said if we play a back 3, our weakness is in the wide areas and if the other team is controlling the play (which they will be at most times) we'll be forced deeper which will make it much easier to get crosses in. Exploiting the space behind the wing back is completely different to exploiting wide areas with the intention of putting crosses in, the first is usually done by a striker on the counter (as you mentioned above). The second part is what teams will try next season, it's the exact same way teams played against Wigan's back three. Man City failed to do that in the FA Cup final and they had a miserable time with 10 + players all crowded around the edge of the box. Just a quick edit. If people can't accept the fact that some people watch football without the need to support a team while getting pissed to the point they don't know what they are doing then that is their problem. We are all different, I wouldn't support City if it wasn't the nearest club to watch football in person. I watch plenty of football on SKY, ESPN, half decent streams with foreign commentators in foreign leagues and it is nice to be able to go out and watch a game properly. It is disappointing that people make false accusations as to what I do in my spare time and which team I really support because they refuse to accept that other people have opinions. And for anyone who wants to have another dig at me, yeah I sit at the top of the west stand on my own, not singing, not getting pissed and definitely not showing myself up in front of people.
Thanks for the rep, I'll stick to the real football forums with less biased fans. Came to talk about City, got accused of being a Leicester fan. Moved away from the East Stand to avoid the idiotic people, assumed I'd find the decent ones on the internet, obviously wrong. Farewell.
As you've slagged off our great city and posted complete and utter bollocks, it's probably for the best.
Being positive about the city, the club and its players now and then might have ****ing helped your cause. Goodbye.
Agree with this, look at other centre backs of Chesters quality and what theyd cost in transfer fees and wages, and give Chester what he deserves!
@Rea_Simone 47s @simonbeevers01 i dont think hull fans have to worry lol Chester's girlfriend after being asked about the situation!
