He still got relegated with a squad that shouldn't have got relegated.

Lot's of clubs do! Wigan are always favourites, I think the fact they have spent so many seasons in the top flight, against all odds, should be applauded.

I reckon if you ask any Wigan fan they'd have taken relegation and winning the FA Cup this season. Which is a pretty decent achievement I'm sure you'll agree.

Martinez seems a nice bloke and he does try to play good football, but his record at Wigan is actually appalling.

Overall record - P 176 W 51 D 47 L 78 (win rate 28.98%)

This seasons record - P 38 W 9 D 9 L 20 (win rate 23.68% - Relegated)

I'm not sure why everyone seems so keen to get him, if I was an Everton fan, I'd be really disappointed if he was Moyes replacement(not that he will be, as it looks like they've got Porto manager Vítor Pereira instead).

Think it is to do with his budget mainly, can't be easy when you constantly lose your best players. He's a young manager and has already shown in his managerial career that he isn't scared to change things if it isn't going well, along with winning the FA Cup in impressive style (not a single game at home)

Currently considering his position and will make a decision within 24 hours. I think he'll go to Everton.

He has a meeting with Dave Whelan planned. But are Everton a big enough club for Whelan to release him to ? Dont rule out a club in Spain taking Martinez this summer. Real Madrid maybe ? ;)

...or Stoke?

Mark Hughes now the bookies fav but Di Matteo or Poyet would fit the bill that Stoke owner Peter Coates is wanting.

If Martinez goes to Everton that could slash Steve Bruce's odds from 16/1 to take over at Stoke.

Save your wonga. Steve Bruce wont be going anywhere especially to Stoke City.

Think Hughes will go to Stoke. Then Stoke to get relegated.

That would be the least of Stokes problems. Look at the complete mess that Mark Hughes has left @ DQPR. :emoticon-0116-evilg

He still got relegated with a squad that shouldn't have got relegated.

Wigan lost many of the defence for too many important games. Look at the last 3 homes games and the key stone cop defending. 3 games they were 2-1 up and 9pts but ended up with just 2 points. They should have stayed up and Slumberland would have gone down. Grrrrrr. <grr>

Martinez is the manager that set the blueprint for how Swansea play currently. The blueprint that Rodgers mistakenly gets credited with. He's actually a decent manager, considering his resources and small squad with players that get pilfered by bigger clubs.

Didn't Boselli cost £12m? An extraordinary amount for Wigan. And how good has he been? I've posted many times - before they were relegated - that I know Wigan fans and all to a man always maintained they were better under Bruce than they are under Martinez.

That's not all Wigan fans then, certainly not the ones I work with!

On 29 June 2010, Boselli signed a four-year deal with Wigan Athletic for an undisclosed fee, believed to be around £6.5 million.

I never got the whole Martinez thing he has taken them backwards. Brucie got them finishing 11th and 13th yet since he left they have not finished above 15th and now have got relagated how is that progression? Also Swansea, WBA and Stoke all spring to mind finished higher and better than Wigan every year on similar if not smaller wages yet Martinez is still a great manager.

Martinez set the blueprint at Swansea for how they play now. Since Bruce left Wigan they had a pretty high turnover of their better players (Palacios/Rodallega/Valencia/Baines/Bramble/N'Zogbia/Melchiot/Cattermole) etc

I think Bruce will want out of Hull when he realises it's so similar to Sunderland. Impatient, pessimistic club with fans that can never, ever be pleased.

I just checked Wigan's spending since Martinez took over and it's quite interesting.

He's spent a total of £32,100,000.00, but in the same period they made £43,750,000.00 from player sales, so are made a transfer profit of £11,650,000.00 in the past four seasons.

Which is very impressive, but the most interesting thing is with the exception of Moses(who cost £2.5m and was sold for £9m), all the other big money player sales were players who were at the club when Martinez took over.

Apparently, Stoke have made Martinez their number one target.

Endorses what I have said. I do think he's done a good job - plus they have quite a few saleable assets with all the Mc's at the club and Kone etc.
