Well, if I would need to choose a Bundesliga team it would be Borussia Mönchengladbach. I'm more happy with my swiss second-tier club though and do not really care about the Bundesliga :D

Oh right, that's where I was born, albeit in a British Military Hospital. I've been to watch them a few times when I was younger but not been back for about thirty years. Keep meaning to but just haven't got around to it. I keep an eye on their results and was pleased when they came back up into the Bundesliga a couple of years ago.

I know they won the Bundesliga title at least once, I think in 1970 (when Jupp Heynkes played for them) and I remember them losing a European Final to Liverpool about 3/4 years later but I don't think they've had much success since.

I only went to Switzerland once, remember it for fantastic thunderstorms in the Alps and for the fact they charged you 25 quid to drive in! Also Basel was a ****-hole I seem to remember. As for the Turks in Germany, the West- Germans brought in the Auslander to do the dirty work that they wouldn't so they only have themselves to blame for social issues that they created, it's not the Turks fault. Too much of a generalisation there Bullshit Man. Not all Turks are like that in fact what you said is almost right-wing talk which causes loads of violence in Germany. Rolling Thunders attempt to equate Germany with Switzerland is pretty pathetic, we're are not all thick like him Masterd- thanks for all your comments.

Thanks for bringing the article to our attention - though you did take some of the sting out of our Nick's words. That actually means "Hull is known for being Ugly." unless my German isn't quite as good as I thought it was.

He also lost me when he said Bayern over BVB. I used to live in Dortmund, so can't be doing with that!

Strictly translated it does mean ugly but to my knowledge of spoken German, it is often used to mean anything from not very nice through to horrible.

I suppose ugliness, like beauty is in the eye of the beholder!

I translated it as 'not that nice really' but he likes whichever suburb he is in, could even be Beverley

Haha, yeah Switzerland is suuuuper expensive for tourists. Not so much for locals as wages are way higher. And yeah, I'm really not German. Thats probably like calling a Scotsman English ;). Swiss and Germans are not the biggest buddies on earth, and I'm really Swiss and not German. Not too big of a deal though, I can live with it ;)

Yes, it highly depends on the context. I think he meant ugly, bad translation from my side.

Translating what he said into football-speak would be like:

Nick Proschwitz isn't known for his goal-scoring exploits, but he gets the odd goal - it could be worse, he could be Billy Paynter

Glad to see that he isn't just a foreign player coming to England to play for a London club, as he says himself Hull isn't the best town out there so it shows he is more bothered about his football. He's got ability, if he uses his size slightly better and can be a bit more physical who knows, we all know he can finish.

<laugh>

Which is your favourite supermarket bums chins?

Well if he's talking about Morrisons he should go to the Kirkstall store. It's regarded as the best supermarket in the whole of the UK and every week is flooded with executive visitors from Tesco, Asda and JS to see what Morrisons is doing with it's 'test' store.

Interstingly (actually, it isnt....) he mentioned the Gibraltar store. That is the most profitable Morrisons store there is, as all the ex pats in Spain flood it cos there is nowhere else they can get a decent sausage roll, pie or pasty.

Well, I shall be redirecting my summer holiday to Gibraltar now so I can get to see this morrisons store for myself. I think I'll also be bringing my mrs and kid to kirkstall for a family day out at the best supermarket in the country.

Sadly the morrisons near me isn't all that big, and parking is a nightmare. There's a very good Tesco which is enormous and has a brilliant car park, but if you want food, the little morrisons actually have more shelf space for food. This gigantic Tesco is more like John Lewis for tramps, which is why I love it and that is my favourite supermarket of all time.

Is this super morrisons similar to my Tesco?
