Their players varied from ****e to average. I suspect it's to make a point as that is exactly what you're doing. Most European teams don't give a **** about the Club World Cup, whereas, in Brasil it's seen as a big deal. Can you see how this would make them keener to win it and English/European teams more likely to put out weakened sides and not play to the best of their abilities, therefore making it not a full and ultimate indicator of who the best team in the world is.
Can you tell me the last time a load of teams played a weakened line-up in the Champions League allowing someone else to win it? And it honestly really is hard for me to understand, perhaps I'm missing something. If 'the best team doesnt always win' I go back to the point of what all this is about - what makes them the best team if it isnt results? The one that plays the prettiest football? The one with the most recognised names in its team? The snazziest kit?
Oh so now the best individual players make the best team. I thought it was TEAM performance. We're getting somewhere.... And from memory Im pretty sure Greece defeated the exceptional Czech Republic side and then the host nation in the final. If only England could be that '****e to average' eh? Im sorry but that's the kind of absolute ****ing bollocks trotted out when teams get beat. Like Man Utd saying they didnt take the Europa League seriously when they got absolutely ripped to pieces last season and the reality was they were simply outclassed. If Chelsea had won the WCC all the media and their fans would be saying they were the best team in the world and how amazing it was for the EPL.
They went into the tournament as 80-1 outsiders, they were lucky in the run in, got the Czech Republic in the semis and then scored with a set piece in the final, while Portugal were uncharacteristically poor. That's what happens in football, sometimes the best team loses, in a one off game anything can happen. We beat Arsenal at the Emirates once and we certainly weren't a better team than Arsenal.
Who is talking about 'one-offs'? At every stage this discussion has been about winning tournaments. We didn't finish above Arsenal in the league that year. Are set pieces not part of football then? Someone had better tell David Beckham. And all odds show is what people are betting on. How is that relevant?
Sorry, I'm a little bored of this now, you claim that the best team always wins a tournament, I claim that's bollocks and the best team can easily be knocked out of a quarter, semi or lose a final for all sorts of reasons. You're obviously not going to change your mind, you never do, so I'd rather not waste any more time on it.
It's easy to leave a conversation you know. And its interesting to point out me not changing my mind when you're doing precisely the same.
Still looks too bigger job for Ruban. The penalty was soft imo. Chelsea looking to have fallen asleep now.
Hey AKCJ. What is going on with Chris Wood then ? I saw that Wood was dropped to the bench last week ?
