are you sure your mate doesn't work for North Ferriby?? oh well Nigel knows what he's doing.. as long as it's him PLUS Danns and/or Norris then fine.. you never know he might bang one in first day of season and prove everyone wrong..

Tyson would be ok, and sign Mike Tyson too, he's almost as hard as Whitehurst...

Agreed! I can't believe people are actually slagging the guy off before he's even signed, if that is to be case! He may not be a 'blow your socks' off signing but if he's been identified as someone who can come in and do a job, a job that most people were crying out to be done last season, at least let him pull on the black and amber and show us what he can offer before ripping into him!

No, people are basing their opinions on what we have seen of him previously, at other clubs, and on the statements of fans of those previous clubs (particularly Forest, his current/most-recent club, where he has been very poor).

Of course, he could turn out to be a good player for us, and we'll be made to eat our words.

But come on, let's be realistic; we're only saying what we think is or will be the case based on what we already know.

We know he can score 5 goals in 61 league appearances over two years(that's if he gets the right service obviously), are we sure he's not a keeper?

we 'slag' guys like this off for a reason, we're meant to be a club on the up, signing players that can help us get promoted with some sell on value... this has all been stated by both pearsons. yet if all is to be believed, we've just signed a 35 year old has-been, or worse a never-was. what possible 'job' could he do for our team when he's been useless over the last few years at his other teams.

i see people saying "well, windass was old..." poppycock! windass was windass, doesnt matter if he was 40 he'd still be welcome at city by the fans.

I'm not going to say that Adebola is the best signing we could have made, but people saying that he is too old doesn't make sense to me when he is the same age as Howard, who nobody is saying is too old. Howard has only scored 2 more than Adebola this season from a similar amount of appearances, and both have scored more than Tyson. If we have signed him, give him a chance I say

    What a ridiculous comment.

Has Nigel Pearson been Canonized while I've not been looking?

Fans have EVERY right to comment and discuss anything to do with the team and Club, otherwise what's the point? It's supposed to be entertainment, for ****s sake!

In my view Adebola is as much use as a concrete post. I don't have to see him play for us, I've seen him play plenty of times for other clubs he's played for. He's big, he's old. he's slow and sores less goals than own goals. For those that care, guess what kind of football we will play when he's on the pitch? Sorry but this signing reduces the managers Karma quite a bit, in my view.

A week ago Howard was 34, in a few weeks Adebola is 36, there's almost two years between them and at the end of your career, that's a big difference.

Comparisons with Deano dont wash either. Deano was a good footballer as well as a target man.

Adebola's DOB is 23.06.75 whereas Howard's DOB is 10.05.76 so there's only 11 months between them

Agree about Adebola being a bit of a pants signing, but keep seeing posts from people saying we aint spending, and moanin about us going for freebies.

Can those same people tell me how much we paid for Stewart, Dudgeon, Evans, Chester, Mclean and Fryatt please?

Just have a little 2 second think before you post you end up looking silly.

i think a lot of what we spend on transfers entirely coincides with who we can shift out, and for how much. Say, if we got good money for bullard and olofinjana if they do leave, that could be the difference between us getting Adebola or us getting Howard/Iwelumo

Bullards allowed to leave for free aint he as long as his wages are covered fully, for the remainder of the deal and we dont end up paying a percentage over his last 2 years.

So Oilyvagina and Bullard have a combined weekly salary of £73,000 and if we get rid of the two of them we can afford to move up from Adebola to Howard or Iwelumo?]

    Sorry, that doesn't make sense.

But that still frees up a lot of wages, which is what i can see putting us off iwelumo like Derby were in january. Still, he'd be my preferred choice before Tyson and the others, just because i think he's what we need up front. I'd love them both though :')

You are of course correct, I made a right royal **** up of checking the age difference, they are only a year apart.

I'd still rather have Howard though.

I've just seen this, and it's pissed me right off. Agree with most posters on this site that Dele Adebola is easily the worst striker out of the three. Has played 4 games this season, he can't run, can't finish, could only last an hour before keeling over.

We definitely need a target man, but this guy is a joke in my opinion

If he does sign for us, and starts the season well, what does everyone think the chances are of him becoming apreciated. I get the impression this whole idea will be disastrous because he is so unpopular with the fans, if he has 1 bad game that will be it he will be booed every game like Harper and it will just become a farce.

We are basing our opinions on Abebola's performances and goal scoring reord over the last few years. 4 goals in his last 50 games isn't startling.

If he does sign and put in a few good performances at the start of the season (maybe scoring a goal or two), I'm sure the fans will take to him. There are doubts - rightly in my opinion - wether Abebola can still compete at this level. My guess would be no
