You gotta feel for those that put so much into getting this stadium built for the city, just for those buffoons to let it lay to waste. Such a shame.
i believe that a more professional response when Mr Allam first approached the Council with his proposals for the area would have meant we'd never have reached this ridiculous position. That doesn't mean roll over and get your belly tickled, it means showing a bit of respect to a man who's walked the walk and turned sod all into half a billion and is sat offering to get people involved in a scheme worth way in excess of £100 million. The actual reaction has driven away the £100 mill + and could conceivably see the waste of a further £45 mill in the stadium and the end of Hull FC. I wonder how many other businessmen have walked way after receiving a similar response but we've not heard of it?
At Melton we will finish with a 35k stadium and Sports Facility, Hotel and Conference Facilities, Tesco Superstore, Marks and Spencers, and a Shopping Mall similar to Keepmoat. Walton Street will be a wasteland. Well done Hull City Council.
Something I want to know, would the proposed sports village/whatever they're planning at Melton be property of the football club, therefore bringing a healthy income to the club, or property of the Allams? And If the Allams will own all these extras, other than actually owning our own stadium, what benefit would any of this have for the club?
Precisely. That was what made me so angry at the time; the complete lack of respect shown to the man. With a bit of clever haggling I'm certain both parties could have come to a conclusion where everyone was happy and the rundown area could have enjoyed a massive injection of much needed wealth and further spin-off investment. That has all gone now thanks to the paranoid, entrenched viewpoint of a few self interested politicians.
Said this before but the council did this to Marks and Spencer's in the early 90's. They wanted to buil a superstore and their head offices on Priory Sidings. They asked for help in the way of a rate holiday and reduced land costs. It was shunned by the council so they took their 500 odd jobs elsewhere.
The Allams and Hull City Football club should NEVER pay 1p towards anything for the Rugby Club... I hope Hull City move and give the council the SmC and Hull FC the stadium.. Maybe I'm wrong ...But that's just what I think after the **** thrown at The Allams by the council and Fc fans
Can someone tell me (not that they think, or guess, or have heard that!) whether they KNOW what confidentiality rules (ie. contractual obligations) exist for Hull City or Hull FC with regards to the SMC?
I've heard Adam Pearson is not allowed to talk about anything related to the SMC or the football club due to being involved before, and I think that's true.
thanks. there was a game in january last year with a crowd of 13,937 that i found. i take it that was a friendly? what is the kr ground limit? the info i found for derby games there were between 9,086 and 10,250 going back to 2009
Move the market to the original site opp Holy Trinity Church (increase revenue and footfall to that part of the city ) +£££ Allow the redevelopment of land around the stadium +£££ scrap the Hull Fair altogether as it just bleeds money out of the local economy (bar the rates the council charge)+£££
Yeah any game played in January would be a friendly as the season doesn't start until February. Craven park currently holds 10,000 but their building a new stand which should increase that by 2,000.
it's ok for people saying that Hull City should move, but for starters how much will it cost for them to break their lease agreement'? People mention that the Council should just give the Allams the stadium. As it's a public building, it's not just as simple as that, plus they would need to stump up 40 or so million to buy it if it was ever agreed.
I don't think the Allams have ever asked to get the Stadium for free. my understanding is that was just how it was announced by TG. I don't think anyone's suggesting he gets given it now either. Part of the confusion is the value of the Stadium. The £40+ million mentioned was for the whole project, which included far more than the stadium itself. The KC is probably currently worth less than it would be as land with nothing there. It's value to the Council is negative. The lease agreement itself may not be that much of a problem to Hull City and it's a safe bet the Allams have it covered. The other costs will be met in a similar way to those proposed for the Walton Street Sports Village, investors and external funding has (from a moderately reliable source) already been sourced in principle.
Not sure if Bursny mentioned this in his interview but he tweeted that Hull FC could not comment because it would go against their agreement (or something to that effect). I just wish the whole thing could be sorted amicably and sensibly. Personally I do not want to move to Melton or anywhere else out of town. I understood it that the stadium was built for the City of Hull and as long as it was standing this football club would have a home. I know Hull City Council have not handled things very well but I also think that The Allams are probably not particularly easy to deal with so both sides should take some blame. Obviously the Council mistrust the Allams for some reason but the whole thing just stinks.
I think if there was a desire to talk Adam Pearson is more than capable of getting his opinion out without breaching any contract in place.
Two questions; what are the terms of the lease agreement? Where does your information come from? I notice nobody has answered my question about Hull FC's so called confidentiality agreement. The article in th Hull Daily Mail last week stated: He challenged Hull FC to waive a confidentiality clause over their SMC agreement, saying he would be happy for an "open book" on all matters around the running of the KC. They are referring to Ehab Allam there, so can somebody explain what the Hull Daily Mail mean by that, because to me that seems to suggest that it is Hull FC that have imposed some sort of confidentiality agreement, not the SMC. If that is incorrect can someone explain to me what the HDM meanin that statement?
