Ok apologies - that would be better... but KC is the ideal spot in my very humble opinion.

Agree roadworks in and around the city have stifled traffic movement this year - I park on Princes Ave these days having driven across the city as I have for 40 years and walk - no problem.

yes agree Walton Street is too expensive at £5m and a mare to get off - but any car park I've used at away grounds such as Blackburn, Stoke, Boro, Coventry et al are simailarly difficult to egress. Thats what you get when the whole of the stadium wants to leave at once rather than rolling up over different times before the game. This would be a problem wherever you site a new stadium.

That said the stewards are useless at Walton Street and are not legally able to direct traffic anyway - should not be beyond the wit of man though to have a one way system and temp road closure at FT should it?

And how are City suddenly going to move out? You've got nowhere to go, you have to buy out your lease, then you've got to get planning permission to be able to even build anywhere. The Allams haven't got that kind of money. The council aren't going to sell them the KC , and you won't be going to Melton either.

They're not going to suddenly move out, any move would be years away and is highly unlikely anyway. Though if we do move, thanks to your owner, we only pay a percentage of the ticket money over a certain value, so no ticket sales, no money owed, so there is no lease to be paid off.

I think east Yorkshire council would jump at the chance and do everything possible to push it through, they're not headed by a bunch of blind deluded old fools like HCC.

The land at Melton is already owned, so there's no charge. The pre-application discusions are (I'm led to believe) positive and other funding streams are already eagre to join in.

The Council were never asked to give or sell the KC to Mr Allam. The discussions previously were about partnership working where each could make a contribution, one option was that the Council contribution could have been the land. There's no broad legal reason why the Council couldn't sell the land as lots of former Council tenants have done exactly that. One of those was the man that bought a majority stake in Huddersfileds ground as well as 54 acres of land for £2. Sports stadiums tend to reduce the value of land to less than if it was just scrub.

The contract one could turn out to be interesting. I don't know the answer, but I find it difficult to believe Dr Allam's gone this far without having the angle covered.
Edit: Just seen OLM's reply. Seems obvious now.

My guess is that Dr Allam would prefer to stay where we are, but with the additional funding he proposed previously, but someone thought we'd be better off without the £100+ and kudos on offer. From what I know of activities in the background, he's quite prepared to move us out if it comes to it.

So, assuming they manage without the subsidies, where do you reckon FC will be playing in two years time?

    Nowhere to go?..............................Wrong.
    Buy out lease.................................Peanuts!
Planning permission..........................ERYC would go down on bended knees for this for jobs and income!
Allam's haven't got the money...........That's the funniest yet. Allams will be worth £750m this year plus if we go up it will be worth another £150m plus we would be in bed with Tescos, Hilton, Total Fitness etc etc.

I would prefer the move to a 35k stadium. A lot can be learned from having the KC Stadium.
Decent segregation (with home support behind both goals) and standing areas.

It sounds like it's cost them over £300,000 to save £20.

A Pyrrhic victory if ever there was one. I think they've managed to pull Pearson's bargaining chip out of his hands. :emoticon-0111-blush

I'm very pleased to see that common sense has prevailed and a picture of someone I hadn't heard of until last week, will now go back up, in a suite that I didn't know existed.

I shall sleep a little easier tonight.

199 year lease offered by the council on the KC to the Allams.
In return HCC make a few bob and wash their hands on the responsibility of the stadiums future upkeep whilst still keeping a hold on it.
FC helped to move to the under used Costello Stadium.
Grants are available for new stands if the community is involved as HKR can testify. They secured £7m for the new North Stand.
We then have two stadiums in West Hull. One which the council cannot afford a tin of paint for and the other which is used about only about ten days a year.
Builders are employed. Jobs are created.
Plus we might see some development, as promised, on West Park/Walton Street area.
    Simple.

You couldn't make FC fans up. They're moaning now that they can't hear Pearson's interview as it's on the subscription area of their Official site and they won't pay to listen.

Does that mean Leeds United have indirectly paid for it?
