What a pompous post you make. Who are you to dictate when, where and why someone should attend a game; I use attend intentionally because they don't necessarily have to be supporters, maybe just fans - if there is such a distinction in your world. To live in your world, folk have to qualify their reason for attending and also their reason for not attending - do they do this to you; have you set-up some mechanism so you can pigeon-hole folk according to your footballing values? Perhaps you will write a supporters manifesto that might make it clear that to attend once makes it a lifetime obligation. Then again, why not just live and let live; accept that folk will do as they wish and enjoy your own existence? When they built the stadium they never expected maximum attendances or they would have built it bigger â it was built for normal people in a normal world and not everyone puts The Tigers at the top of their lifetime priorities. For my part, I think it is fundamentally disloyal of the manager to field a total second-eleven for a competitive match in a competition that with a bit of luck we have every chance of doing well in. I donât make the effort to travel to reserve matches â just how was yesterday anything other? For your part you keep repeating that folk do not have to justify themselves to you; does this cleanse your bigoted conscience, as it is a false premise as the folk that you indirectly criticise certainly do appear to have to justify themselves to you; just as everyone else does to exclude them from your sorting process. Big Brother is alive and well after all! Oh and by the way, are you sure your broad-brush approach works and that all of the people who did not attend because of the crap team selection would really, 100%, agree that the PL only attenders were 'Glory-hunters'?
I still don't get why fans who appeared only during the PL are glory fans. Its not like we're gonna be in the top 4 or qualify for Europe, as lovely as that'd be of course. I've been around long enough to see numbers fluctuate and I'm still of the view Id rather have an extra 20k fair weather fans for a season or two than not. They're all buying stuff, and putting money in, which helps us long term surely? Can someone explain the use of the word glory? Or even plastic? Some of us will be around whatever, and have always been that way, others come, others go, long as on balance we get enough, whats the issue?
Just because people carnt go to cup games/away games due to financial reasons or prior arangements doesnt mean they are not loyal supporters! Im in a fortunate position that i can attend all home, away and cup games, I also attend the Reserve games At Ferriby, but i dont see myself a better fan than people that can only go to home lge games. A lot of fans struggle and save to get the money for the season tickets, let alone finding money for cup tickets and away tickets, so any support that people give the lads, home or away is good, after all were all wanting the same thing, and thats the Tigers back in the top flight!
I felt those prices were reasonable and fair, despite the ****e performance. I sat in E2 for a change, and was thoroughly entertained by a bunch of lads sat just along from me in E1 abusing some fat guy in the L'Orient end. That's how dire our performance was... However, I quite fancy Barnsley in the next round, we should field a stronger side and go for it IMO.
Same here Magic. I was on Row V in E2 I could see the same kids you're talking about. It made a very dull game slightly entertaining, especially when he lifed his top up to reveal his.gut!
He became very, very silent for a long while after the infamous chorus of, "You Fat Bastard" though Until they scored, obviously... To say them lads looked around 17/18 and he looked in his late 30s, they gave him a torrid time! There's maybe some promise in our young fans after all...
What a load of dramatic bollocks that is. Read my posts on this thread. I've not said anyone should go to games or shouldn't or anything like that. I'm simply saying that if people are going to criticise others and call them part-timers or glory supporters or whatever for only coming when the team is good enough for their standards then they should accept the same back at them when they refuse to come for the same reason. I can't see how that has pissed you off so much. Only the last paragraph makes any sense and yes you're right with that, it won't apply to everyone but it's something that's often said: 'plastics', 'glory-hunters', 'part-timers' etc. I agree with you. If you thought otherwise re-read my posts. Not sure if you were aiming this at me or not.
I think it is you that needs to re-read your own posts; perhaps what you have intended and what you have put have grown apart. You are also making out that thousands complain about ' Plastics', but it always seems to be a small minority who use the boards and phone-ins (or those or have never attended, nor will) - perhaps you might find that the thousands who don't turn up for pseudo-reserve games don't give a jot about 'Plastics' - do 'Plastics' bother you? Perhaps, in a non-dramatic way, you could give us all a workable definition of what our collective loyalty should be?
I went to get a £10 ticket on Saturday morning and the queue was outside the ticket office towards the south stand! I chose not to wait for a ticket as I had a parcel delivery expected back home! I am ashamed of myself and even though I have been to most aways this season and am a passholder, I am thoroughly disgusted with my actions. I no longer consider myself a supporter!
This is the age old debate of what others class as being a ‘loyal supporter’. Some people can afford and chose to make football their priority, some have never been able to do so and some have had to change as life has changed. Don’t think it’s up to anyone to say who is a loyal supporter and who isn’t. I was a season ticker holder 92/93 – 99/00 and then again 04/05 – 11/12, attending the odd game in between when I didn’t have a season ticket. This year I haven’t got a season ticket and I’ve been to 2 games – 1 home and Forest away. I don’t feel any less of a supporter, City are still my team and they always will be, but circumstances dictate that I can’t afford it this season. There was a couple who sat in front of us for 5 seasons solid and never missed a game, then they had a baby and they stopped coming altogether. Are we now to say they can only be classed as loyal supporters if they dump their kid on someone and start coming back to City every Saturday?
This sounds like me. I can't make many Saturdays now because I don't live in Hull, yet I make any game that I can . I had a season ticket from 99/00-04/05 and again in 11/12, but I travel to away and home games. I've been to 12 games this year. I still would like to think myself as a loyal supporter.
It's no different to you starting a thread saying you're a better/more loyal supporter because you sit in the posh seats and we can't afford it!
It went pear-shaped from here - just a pity it was the beginning! No allowance made for those who made hay while the sun shined and sacrificed things to make the games - they knew we were not there for keeps (did anyone think that?) and made the commitment of one or more season passes - how anyone can criticise that is beyond me.
If you were a true supporter you wouldn't bugger of to the US of A during the season. You would turn the work down, stay here so that you could go to games every week
