I have no problem with Koren going to the PL, it's forward step for him but going to Leicester is a sideways step at least and I would argue that it's a backwards one judging by our movement in the transfer window. If he goes to Leicester it's for money and nothing else. Luckily though this isn't happening on deadline day so we have plenty of time to replace him if he does leave.
You do a job. You get paid. You like that job. Someone else offers you MORE money for doing the job you love somewhere else. You leave to do the job you love somewhere else. Omg you mean there's no LOYALTY in football?!!? If he gets offered more money ANYWHERE else, even with Drogba in a 2nd division, good luck to him. I'll be sorry to see him go, he's a great player, but he's coming to the end of the small window he can earn decent money in and I'd wish him well if he leaves for those reasons, even yes, to Leicester. It's not like we'd have sold him and not bought in a few quality players already. I hope he chooses to stay here but he he chooses to leave, you can hardly blame him, the club or think it spells the doom of our forthcoming season.
To be honest, with the proposed signing of another speedy winger and Bruce's talk of always playing 2 strikers I cant see a role for Robbie. Put it this way, if I was in Bruce's shoes I'd be looking at a way to shift him and blame someone else....
Plus telling everyone its 500k all teams in the bottom half of the premiership will think fukin hell thats cheap, great addition for a 25 man squad. So starts a bidding war. If we can get just over a million for him and its from the prem, jobs a good one.
I agree with this. Clubs aren't loyal to players so why should players be loyal to clubs. I bet the majority of the fans on here who talk about loyalty would change jobs for an extra 25% pay.
Why would there be a bidding war over the fee? The bidding would be over his wage. They'd all just bid the minimum fee. I still can't see any reason why Bruce would want him out. That's crazy talk.
As i undertand it Theo, the 500k triggers a clause saying he can talk to clubs. We then have the choice if a number of clubs are interested. Then the auctiion starts and we take the highest bidder.
Will wait and see. I've no idea how these things work in the real world. Rare to see a clause outside of Championship Manager. Or La Liga.
At the end of the day he will go where he can get paid the most, he doesnt have too many pay days left and you are going to take that chance if it arises. Not sure an EPL will come in for him though unless as a back up and not sure if he would want that. His agent was specualting before Bruce came and he is still here which seems a good sign and he has reported back for training. I am sure lots goes on behind the scenes and you would think he he was going it might be a bit more obvious. I guess the ball is in his court and how the deal we offer compares...but with the new signings if he goes he is going to miss out on exciting times ahead....
Nah, not at all. He can talk to anyone who bids enough to trigger the release clause and we have zero say where he goes. If one club bids £5m and another 500k, if the release clause is 500k then we cant stop him choosing them.
Disagree. None of us knows what else is in the contract and the Allams are no mugs. Cant remember the name of the Argie full back who Liverpool bid for, highest bidder, Fergie refused. Think the Allams and SB would do the same. If he goes it has to be a prem club, we arent going to let a rival have him.
They didn't write the contract and Steve Bruce says we're "powerless". Hopefully Reading will come in for him but I think it's all about Leicester. Koren must respect NP. He came here when we were in chaos. NP must have charmed him.
You mean Heinze? Ferguson asked him out of respect not to sign for Liverpool and he agreed and he wanted Real Madrid anyway. And in a roundabout way you have inadvertantly proved my point - as you said, Liverpool bid more but cos Real activiated the trigger he went there, which was exactly the point I made as below!! "Nah, not at all. He can talk to anyone who bids enough to trigger the release clause and we have zero say where he goes. If one club bids £5m and another 500k, if the release clause is 500k then we cant stop him choosing them."
Its been hinted at that Only PL clubs can trigger the release clause for starters. Nobody is getting killed in the rush for Koren either. RK agent has been spilling the beans for weeks. Hull City have done what Koren wanted so its now upto Koren to put up or shut up. Spot on. Cannot agree more with this post. Thats why its only the neg heads who think Koren will go. Option No.2 imo. From what ive seen of him so far in pre-season and whats been said Koren is in no way in a rush to leave especially for a club like Leicester City. But as always TWT. Does not have be an issue. IF Bruve goes with his 3 at the back then Koren can play in the 5 and in the hole. What Bruce is doing IMO is giving himself many and varied options. I expect a horses for courses policy actually from SB. Plus with 7 subs back again what a bench Bruce can have regardless of who plays. Could not agree more.
Neither of us knows the ins and outs of Korens contract. But lets put it this way Mr allam will/would do all in his power to stop him signing for Leicester. Google Heinze and Fergie transfer, think you will find Heinze did want to link up with Mascherano at Pool and Fergie flat refused to let him go there.
I never claimed I did, I said the way a release contract works. I dont know where evryone has got the 500k figure from either, cos the club certainly hasnt stated that.
I'll be gutted if Roko leaves, you cannot replace a player of his quality. Nice to see that people think he can easily be replaced though.
