Party Hull! theory time; Bruce has deliberately done this. He said the other week that Koren was one of the better players we have, and therefore he didn't want to lose him. This keeps the fans onside. He's then revealed in this press conference, publicly, that there's a release trigger. He hasn't done this by accident. It's an invitation to offers. I think it's all part of the bigger Bruce plan to change the City style of play. I wouldn't be surprised if he thinks that all the neat & tidy passing stuff is all well and good, but that a direct style is what gets you out of the Championship. The big, stocky players we're starting to see getting signed could be proof of this (subject to Faye joining too). And Bruce does have experience of getting promotion from this league. If he removes Koren from the picture, acting like it's something beyond his control, he keeps the fans onside, whilst simultaneously freeing himself from having to make him the focal point of the team. Koren is definitely most effective in the pocket behind the strikers, less so in other positions, and I think Bruce will dispense with that. He won't want to rely on one man so much. If Koren goes, and he can make it seem like something beyond his control, he can more easily crack on with his own pre-planned system overhaul. Reckon? It's just a Party Hull! theory, and might well be a dollop of bullcrap. Personally, I couldn't give a frig. I've always said, the ends justifies the means. Winning football, for me, is always the preference - no matter what it looks like. But, for the record, I still think Koren is class. I'll be gutted if he goes. I just think, next season, we could see a marked change in our style. Be prepared...
partyhull your a ****.It's just a Party Hull! theory. no check dates http://www.not606.com/showthread.php/156887-McDermott-Reading-and-Koren my theory
If he had sense, he'd stay with us and have regular football and a chance at more goals. Should he leave for Leicester, he would probably be on the bench, and would not be in the position he likes. Premier League should really be the only temptation, but otherwise, he should sign for us again.
I'd agree. But as much as I'd want to keep Koren as he is a brilliant player, we struggle to score goals and obviously there needs to be a change in our style of play. As long as we get a nice sum for him, I wouldn't be too heartbroken that he's gone. Great player, and I know my son will definitely miss him. Koren is his role model.
I think he's great, and it would be a shame for sure. I just have this feeling that he wants to change the way we play, and removing Koren (with a fee also to bring in) would be a big part of that. If he plays 40-odd games next year though then please do remind me of this thread. I will deserve it.
Haha, don't worry mate. I think you're theory won't be far off the mark. I think if he's being honest about wanting to keep RoKo, then maybe he will change but adapt it to suit Koren.
If that's what you like Dovey, have a word with Miff, he might have sources for that sort of stuff for you as our resident pornmeister.
You can't lose matey, you either just play the "it was a theory when I was pissed" card or the "I was CLEARLY just trying to ensure Koren played every game for us by stating the opposite in a clearly meant to be a non jinxing but jinxing way, duh"
That's hilarious. All doveston actually said there was that Robbie was a **** and he should **** off to Reading because they've offered £5m. **** all to do with what Party was on about and totally inaccurate This board would be worse off without you dovey. As for you theory Party, you might be right but I reckon Bruce could also play a bit more physically without necessarily having to get rid of Koren. However we play we will still need a midfield and you'd think that even if we became a total route 1 team we would still want Koren in there somewhere.
Yup, I'd be delighted if Koren stayed and remained as influential as he is now. Or even if his role changed a bit, without wasting him. I do think we're starting to see, and hear, the formations of something else though. Like our good mate Frenchy says...TWT!!!
I really don't understand this mentality who can blame him for one last big pay day, do you not think he's already earned enough through his career and earning enough with us to last him let alone his own lifetime but then his children's too? And what's to stop him getting a job coaching or commentating for a good few grand a week or even doing a degree and getting a proper job with a good salary? The fact is most footballers earn more in a year than most of us do in half our lives if not our entire lives, so yes I would blame him, with the amount he's already on he's got more than enough as it is.
