I'm not so sure Barnsley are going to be as bad as people have suggested, they've signed some decent players (Mido is a bit of a lump but they got the best out of Vaz Te so why not him?). Huddersfield too are making some noises which might suggest they will finish comfortably in mid table.
Would have liked to see us go in for Norwood and continue with the Man U theme; for 400k they've got themselves a solid player. Having said that it's going to take a lot to break up our midfield, Evans and McKenna were solid last season. The only problem there of course is where to put Koren.
Players I'd like to see us go in for:
GK - Happy with Guzan to come in, if Gonzales comes in as number 2 then great, Peet is good cover for both.
DF - Not sure if SB likes McShane, we certainly don't but if we can shift him, we will need cover at RB. We have East, but I think he needs a bit of lower league football, a la Bradley to find his feet. Townsend had a storming season at Grimsby, so he might provide further cover, but Michael Keane coming in would be ok. I think Cooper/Bradley can play as cover for Hobbs, but if another injury strikes, might be an idea to get a half season loan for somebody, such as Scott Wooton or Marnick Vermijl (both of which SAF said can go out on loan).
MF - If we lose Koren, we will need somebody who can set up play. I'd like to see us bid for Liam Bridcutt at Brighton, he got their player of the season and he looked really good against us at their place. I wouldn't lose sleep if Brady didn't come back, he looks ok but might have to do a Jon Walters and drop to the bottom and work his way up. Marc Pugh at Bournemouth would be another good shout, inexpensive and can take on full backs. Wouldn't mind seeing Liam Trotter here either but he might cost a fair bit.
ST - Heskey has been mentioned a fair few times and I can see it being a successful move, provided he stays fit and his wages are fair. I can't see anybody dislodging Matty Fryatt, he's one of the best strikers in the division and with a target man along side him could easily get 20+ goals. I think we need a another option, so my wild card would be Jack Tuyp at FC Voldendam (who play in the Dutch Championship). He's got 100 goals in 218 appearances, which ain't too shabby. He's a cracking finisher and a real poacher too, if an opponent makes a mistake, he really punishes them. Only 28 and wouldn't break the bank.
