During a baseball practice when I was 11 or 12, we were standing around in the outfield while someone hit the ball to us. I called for one, reached up to catch it...and some other kid went for it, and deflected the ball over my glove and into my forehead. Got a concussion for my troubles, but the worst part was the fact that you could clearly see the mark left by the ball's stitches for days after.

There are some great stories coming out here....funny how a good old injury captures the imagination!

Just remembered another random one. At school a lad during p.e. Did a nasty slide tackle on another nipper in my class and his studs ripped through his calf. The chap that was injured laid on the floor in agony then sat up and looked at his leg and said 'euuugh get the slug off my leg'. It was his muscle hanging out and covered in blood ! As a kid i could not help but laugh my head off but looking back it was nasty. The lad that caused the injury is now a semi pro goalie, think he plays for totton or Eastleigh these days.

That sounds a bit like mine, I slid and was stretching to poke it out for a corner before the forward ram on to it and my toes dug into the pitch and my full body weight bent my foot in two and I heard something go-still makes me wince when I think about it!

My most random non football related accident was on a secondary school trip to France and Germany. I rolled out of the top tier of a triple bunk bed whilst asleep. Luckily (?!) my fall was broken by head being split open on a radiator, followed by a broken arm on landing!! I was unconscious on the floor and bleeding but all my mates couldn't see because if was pitch dark. They thought I was messing about groaning and were throwing stuff at me and telling me to shut up; it only became evident when daylight broke and I was laying unconscious with a twisted arm and covered in blood! I remember going to a German hospital and having my broken arm tendered to by a nurse who looked the spitting image of Stefi Graf!!

Dang, that is awful, you could have died.
That would have stopped their laughter.....momentarily.

When i snapped my cruciate,it felt like something had exploded in my knee, whuch was obviously the ligament snapping, and shooting up into the top of my leg. When i looked down at my leg,the top of my leg was pointing forwards, but my foot was pointing outwards at about 30 degrees.
Had to wait 9 months for the op,a week in hospital, then 3 months off work, and 12 months physio over the hospital to try and build the muscle back up.
On one of my first physio visits,i was laying on my front on a table, bending my knee to 90 degrees as instructed, when a bloke came over and said "i think your knee is bleeding".I looked down at the floor, and there was a big pool of blood,as my stitches had broken open,so had to go back into A and E to have it all stitched back up again.
I think nowadays it is only a small scar if you have the op,but when i had my done i had a cut from above the knee cap to below it,that needed 11 stitches.

Yep that sounds right as I did my own knee and the first thing you are asked is, does it feel like a burning sensation.

hows this for unlucky,my nipper got picked up by chelsea ,within 6 months had ripped his quod, broke his nose and a finger.come back to play local footy and got scouted by aldershot ,broke another finger whilst there .didnt sign for them this season and played local again.got scouted by saints and signed trial papers, was there two days and ripped his calf got a phone call to pick him up ,out for another 6 weeks ,got past that and broke another finger whent back after 6 weeks and broke it again on the 1st training session back out for another 6 weeks ,then after that 6 weeks broke another finger on his second session back at training .Dont think this football lark is for him!! so in all in 18 months 4 broken fingers ,1 broken nose ,1 grade 3 quod tear and 1 grade 2 calf tear for a total of 5 games played in 18 months and hes a friggin goalie..

Not football related but whilst nailing a piece of wood to a wall I inadvertantly sandwiched the bottom of my jeans between timber and wall and nailed through the trousers...not realising I started to walk away and fell arse over tit and (horror of horrors) grazed my wrist!.....fortunately there were no witnesses so please dont let anyone else know...
