Loads of footy injuries over the years, lots of ankle sprains, broken nose 3 times, but the one that ended my "career" was snapped anterior cruciate ligaments, which was a complete accident as i slid to stop a pass from going out for a throw in,and my studs dug into the pitch and my whole body twisted around but my knee stayed still. Had the operation, but never played again.
One funny story i had was i had to play a match against my girlfriends brothers team years ago. There was plenty of banter between us during the run up to the game, and being as he was a skillful midfielder, and i was a burly centre half,i warned him i was going to "take him out".
All of my girlfriends family turned up to watch the match, and we were winning when the ball fell to my brother in law and as he lined to take a shot,i managed to just reach out and take the ball away from him. Unfortunately his leg carried on through with taking the shot, and he kicked the bottom of my boot at full pelt with his shin.
There was a loud bang and his leg snapped like a twig. I felt awful, but it was a complete accident, though the "inlaws" were obviously none too pleased with me.
