All i know is our fans always bloody moan. leaking goals, signing ****e players, wages too high, tactics completely wrong, not creating chances, creating loads but not scoring, I mean seriously. It's really sad that people seem as upset now as they did when we were in the ****ter. We could be having a far worse season. Let's move to the next game and try and be positive. Tonight Barmby sounded miffed by the reactions of the fans and I would not be surprised if it had a negative impact on the team. PLayers heard the boos. Sadly some will probably think it will motivate the players and make them score tons of goals [rolls eyes]
I'm talking about chemistry... we have a good one at the moment. let's not break and just hope they get it right together. Otherwise we're always dismantling things to try and go forward when really we're just going backwards.
Either way, there's no guarantee that a £3million player would solve all our problems.
Come on, they are professional footballers for gods sake. What do you think they are going to do? Start crying and go and sit in a corner cos the fans booed them for failing to score against a team that hadnt kept a clean sheet away from home all season? The fans wouldnt boo if this was just a one off, they would be able to accept that you cant win every game. The problem is that this is happening every single week. It just so happens that on the odd occasion koren gets us out of jail!
I've not said it would definitely solve the problem, I've said it's ridiculous that they're claiming they haven't been looking for a solution because they don't think there is a problem. It's insulting fans' intelligence. Say it's a problem, say we're working on different things in training, oh I'll have to come back to set pieces now I've reminded myself, say that we're looking for the players that could help us solve it, but don't deny the problem exists when everyone can see it does.
Now set pieces, did I hear Barmby correctly? Did he really say we try different things at set pieces?
We did try a few different ones in the first half which went OKish and might have gone in on another day (you can't expect immediate set piece goals as soon as we try something different), but in the second half we went back to the big hopeful punt.
Yeh but how the **** can you boo when we're creating 15/20 chances? people generally boo when you ave 30% posession and 2 shots off target.. Whoever booed is a disgrace. Considering where we are in the table I think it's an absolute disgrace frankly.

Very mature. Booing is a way to let your feelings be heard. Funnily enough people don't boo to create a gust of wind that carries the ball into the back of the net.For the record I didn't boo, I'm just explaining it's function for morons like yourself.
Now that is largely a seperate issue to the one we've been covering over the two threads in terms of the need for players. But the fact the club are either totally clueless about that issue, or are taking the piss with us with their comments is going to increase frustrations and therefore the chances of booing happening. If it were an isolated incident there wouldn't be the booing. If the club were acknowledging it was a problem there'd be more sympathy. The club denying it's an issue and saying they're happy with things as they are is pushing people, and they see the only way of making people at the club realise it's not good enough and that there is a problem is to boo. I don't agree with them doing it, but how else can they show the club that disapproval?
We started it tonight then, fair enough I'll let him off. If he'd been trying to say that our 100+ corners before tonight that have all gone to the tallest defender have actually been varied I'd have been convinced he was having a break down.
But barmby didn't deny there was a problem, he merely said he believes in his current team. He thinks it's all there. He isn't implying that we are scoring enough goals at the present. He's saying that the players that are already here, have goals in them. Obviously fans disagree and think he must blind or summit. I understand the frustration but I think barmby is right. On paper, our team should be doing better. We're certainly creating chances (which we hadn't for a while last year). Chances lead to goals.
Either way, I doubt the purchase of one single striker would solve everything. Imo, we either stick with what we have now or we have to sell a few.
I don't want to start another debate but I think Koren is overrated. I think he's done well for us but we're definitely relying on him too much and he's actually not that amazing. Most of his goals are actually average shots that bounce/roll into the corner. Obviously goals are goals but Personally I think this, 2x defensive midfielders and him in the middle behind the striker, isn't working. He's the best we have in that position at the moment but I don't feel he fits in the system. Purely because when we play him in that role, we only have one striker. I don't like this 4-2-3-1 formation. I'd rather go back to a 4-1-2-1-2 diamond formation.

Booing is a message, clever boy. "let your feelings know" like you said but in the hope of seeing a reaction, right or wrong? In which case, I don't think booing is likely to create the reactions expected by those who send out this message.
I might be wrong but if these players are trying their best, as they should be and as I think they were considering the amount of chances we created... then being booed cannot possibly help in any shape or form.
If their boos are intended to improve the team. If as in my case the frustration isn't with the players, it's with nothing seeming to be done by the management, the reaction they'd be after is some form of acknowledgement of a problem and it can provide that.
Where is the proof that the players we currently have have goals between them?? The fans are basing their opinions on facts - these players havent scored nearly enough goals between them. Im not sure where barmby is basing his opinion of them from. Training? Performances for previous teams? Either way it certainly isnt on their achievements on the pitch for hull city football club which is what matters and what should count
And until they prove otherwise to myself and the rest of the fans then the fans are going to query and question the judgement of the manager. If the only way to get this over to the players and manager is by booing then so be it.
Just the ones that read your post where you "realised" that booing was an effective way of improving performance. Any that we see acting like that we know it's all your fault.
Agreed and Nicky is in certainly in for some stick for the way he explained himself but I support him and his judgement. We can start booing when we've no chance of making play offs. Until then, I will remain positive.
You don't have to even like football to know that goals usually gets you wins but only two teams in the league have won more games than we have and we've not been scoring much from day 1 this season. We're in for a season of 1-0's maybe 2-1's but so be it. I know that everyone's thinking " if only we scored more, with the defence we have, we're sorted" but it's very hard to get that balance. All teams above us have conceded more goals and all teams below us. More goals would most likely mean having to concede that fact. I'd rather have 1-0 wins ( which obviously means you risk losing 1-0 or drawing 0-0 more often) than winning 3-1 one week and getting tonked 1-4 the next... Some may see it as more entertaining but being consistently solid is more important imo.
The thing is, the team's that usually grind out 1-0s tend to have tight defences as a result of being negative and only needing one or two chances a game. Where we have the tight defence without that problem we should be capitalising, because if we're struggling to score when we're making 20 odd chances a game, how many games are we going to win when teams work out that shutting down Koren and Stewart takes us out the game. If we go from scoring 1/20 (we've not even hit that recently) to only getting 4 or 5 chances a game we're going to be going a month at a time without a goal.
