Considering what we paid - not really as we’d need to be turning a profit no?

Would be selling all the fringe before Kamara.

Palmer, Omur, Famewo, Drameh, Dowell, Burstow, Cartwright, maybe TLT but wouldn’t rush on that one either

Logically, I agree but if we sold all of those players -would it even raise 2 million?

You'd think Palmer and Burstow would be easy sales, but I imagine they've both just got decent pay rises. Palmer particularly might now be out of Lutons reach

Omur £2.5m
Dowell £500k
Palmer £1m
Burstow £2m
Kamara £2m
Jacob £300k
Vaughan £200k

I don't think those are unfair sums for those players, that's £8.5m but even if it's a couple of million below then add in the wages saved and we'd make up the PSR deficit.
Just remember you have to write off the remaining book value. Selling kamara for 2m with only half his 4m fee amortised means breaking even, not banking 2m. You also don't get to include "saved wages" in this year's account, it just reduces our expenses for next year.

We’d be better off selling Akintola, Phillips, Jacob, Drameh, Famewo and Dowell first as they were signed as free agents or from our academy in Jacob’s case. Pure profit as far as transfer fees go.

This time last year everyone saying the EFL wouldn’t let us sign players on huge wages, that was obviously rubbish.
We know that we wer subject to an EFL business plan, they had to sign off every deal and on multiple occasions deals couldn't be done until we freed up some wages first.

That stuff is more concrete than the rumours about McBurnie being on eleventy grand a week, which are nothing more than that.

We do pay well and we obviously aren't getting players like McBurnie on the cheap, but very few people will know the real figures and some of the claims being made about what would've happened if we didn't go up are easy to make in hindsight now it can never be tested.

Yep absolutely. Or burstow if we can get a profit. If we bought him for 1-1.5, surely we're able to get 2-3m for him.

Maybe if he’d torn up league one, player of the year, all that. He had a decent season, not outstanding. The clubs that will likely be interested in him won’t have that sort of money to spend on one player.

He's played well in the play off winning side I think there'll be plenty interested.

A quick look at a Bolton forum suggests their fans aren’t too bothered about keeping him, he’s not first choice in the current squad and would only keep him if he’s cheap. Doesn’t sound like he made enough of an impact there for them to splurge most their budget on him.

I think there will be interest in him and he’ll go but he won’t generate a big fee.

I think scoring double digit goals in L1 will have enough interest to get a reasonable fee. A Leicester or Wednesday could do worse than look at him if there's no Championship interest.

For those asking 'gee how would we have managed this had we not gone up' - the PSR challenge is no doubt complicated by promotion bonuses (eek) that were paid out, which is a bigger cost than we would have needed to worry about had we not gone up. Had we not gone up we likely would have sold Hughes or Pandur before the end of June in a similar way to selling Jaden/Greaves two years ago.

I honestly think we’ll struggle to sell £6m worth of fringe players in time

We must have known in advance so hopefully some deals are just waiting to be ratified... But I do think there's only burstow, Palmer and Kamara you get over a million for - unless a Turkish team buy omur for 5 mil and next month we get a shiny Turkish toy but look like we've overpaid by about 5mil

Acun Ilıcalı: "It's early for transfers. We're working very seriously, but we don't have the luxury of making mistakes. Mistakes made there would burn us. So far, we've made 80 percent correct transfers; we've examined them one by one, consulted with our coach every time, and gotten his approval. In other words, transfers are very important. It looks like we'll have a budget of 250 million euros."
