I was a bit surprised by the length of it too - it's the longest deal of anyone at the club - but it's yet another display of faith in him from people inside the game and it would be foolish not to take notice of the accumulation of those at this point. Every manager we appoint sees him as indispensable which has to tell you something.
I think this should put to bed the idea that he's a poor captain too.
I know he's not a shouter on the pitch - but he's clearly having a positive influence in the dressing room.
I think we might be getting to the point where we need a better option on the pitch but he'll be a good person to have as a back-up.
