Surprised it’s a three-year extension but he was always going to renew. Three-year extension would’ve made more sense for Slater.

Interesting he said in the interview he’s ‘proud to play for the club where I’m from’ rather than ‘club I support’. It’s been mentioned before but is it confirmed he’s a Leeds fan?

Not sure why anyone's surprised when acun has spoken very openly about wanting coyle to finish his career here so it was always going to be a longish deal. Suspect it's at a lowish wage which offsets the security of the deal. I'm sure the intention is he'll be phased to a squad player over those three years.

Never seen it confirmed, but he often says things like "proud to play for my hometown club" rather than saying he supported us.

In his interview with Mike White he said that he's said before he wants to finish his career here and this contract allows him to do that. Mike White then questioned him and said "surely you won't retire at 33/34" and Coyle then said if he carries on playing well he's hoping he can sneak another couple of years on the end of it.

He was in Leeds academy as a youth and made a handful of appearances for them.

I was a bit surprised by the length of it too - it's the longest deal of anyone at the club - but it's yet another display of faith in him from people inside the game and it would be foolish not to take notice of the accumulation of those at this point. Every manager we appoint sees him as indispensable which has to tell you something.
