Here, Wise Men Say is gonna be emotional tomorrow (won’t beat Wembley cos that was just core memory euphoria epic times) 8 years in the making, gorgeous weather, pride in the city growing, pride in the club off the scale. Expectation, excitement, belief. Passion, Pride, Wearside indeed. It’s gonna be a carnival day I can’t wait to get into town in morning (via Stack and the Vic)
Thankfully, they're not our competition. Sadly there'll be supporters who'll look at our transfer window, when it closes, and moan than we didn't strengthen 'here' or 'there'. Just how it is mate. As long they don't mind me moaning at them, if they moan, they can sit near me for 80 minutes then shuffle off
We stay up, we may well spend £50-60m on a player next season. That’s gonna be the next step. All these ‘small’ announcements like the LiveScore and Monstwr deals are future spending power.
Yes we did. Three teenagers in the final though, and one a teenager a fortnight before it . Others very young too. We were miles off the top two, who themselves were way short of PL quality. It was a remarkable promotion. But Bournemouth have been in the league a little while now. They sold £150m worth of players this summer, so their circumstances are rather different. Nothing more I'd like to see than a team full or near full of English players, but that is almost unheard of in the PL now. Liverpool often have only one or two. Apart from the two who have left, and who wanted to leave, all the English players who featured well for us last season are here, and apart from two, all have committed, by contract, to staying. Most will emerge and many will get to grips with the league. But they needed substantial help, and clearly, buying in Europe is tenable, whereas buying here is clearly mostly not. And just as clearly, sending that team without help into the PL would have been an outright massacre.
Isidor, Roberts, Neil, Cirkin, O9 and Rigg will hopefully get a chance early doors and hopefully they grasp it. We are building a really good squad and would like to see these lads be part of it moving forward. Hopefully they grasp their opportunities
I’m sure we will. We still have a mega low wage bill for PL, income will have massively increased and we will have a new shirt sponsor (we will have to) and will likely have a large sale in the mix. We won’t have gambled so hard on staying up this season to handicap next. Remember the spend is spread over length of contract so divide spending by 4 and we’ve spent for this year about £40million. Less than we got for Tommy and Jobe.
Yep maybe a loan could do it. I think we have done astonishingly well mind. Way, way better than I expected.
Beyond our dreams mate. Limit of our thoughts was raiding the relegated clubs and young French lads really. Xhaka, Reineldo, Diarra, Mukiele? No ****ing way.
I can't remember seeing the value mind, though it's sure to be a big leap from what we had. Only for one year is it not?
one year yeah, the quote was that it's the biggest sponsorship deal we have ever had for a front of the shirt sponsor
Never mind signing Adringa! I wouldn't have believed anyone who said that we could sign a lad like that, who is still a youngun and with so much PL experience already including most of one season apparently playing mostly in a couple of positions alien to him.
