Eli just misses that line I think.

A lot going on, but a lot needed to. I too would have liked to see a couple more "English" lads brought in. Then, today Ben Doak is said to be going to Liverpool for £25m! He looked canny at Boro mind, but he has barely had a game for Liverpool, had an injury, and isn't 20 yet.

English tax if ever it existed that. Abringa had played fifty plus PL games, scored a dozen goals, is not a lot older and cost £5m less. I'd have liked to see Doak here actually, though I know he is Scottish, but the " tax" thing I think also applies to an assumed familiarity with the game here, the language etc.

But, £25m?
To be fair Bournemouth can buy overseas players just as easily as we can. They probably have better established scouting networks too. I am not sure they are daft enough to be hoodwinked by a domestic tax personally.

Setting aside English tax or not. Last season we had probably 8 English players who played a lot of games for us. This season? Will we have even 1? I wonder.

Imo, Mukiele means no need for another CB . We now have 4 players who can play there. 5 when 09 is back, plus seelt, alese, hjelde...

Also, I think Huggins can go out on loan (with a recall option)

All positions have been strengthened now. Nothing critical. However, Versatile attacking player would be nice to have in. And a statement signing of an experienced CF would be great, that our strikers can learn from.

Depends how well they play i suppose, the competition for places we are starting to create is class - id still love someone like Cresswsll and/or Elliot to come in tho as I would like more British players signed but also get the cost is often high for these lads

Some people have expressed concerns about Onions defending in the box, then there are others talking about these like this, then there are the new rules for the new season . . . .

Scary, isn't it . . . . for all teams, who will have to 'adjust' :emoticon-0112-wonde

There’s some players who just seem to get away with a lot more, Dan Burn is one of them. Never seen someone shirt pulling as much on set pieces and yet never gets penalised. Definitely think we needed to add some height into the team though and they’ve done just that. Wouldn’t have fancied Ballard and O’nien trying to defend set pieces against man mountains like VVD, Saliba, Maguire, Burn, Van De Ven etc.

This is another one of those signings that wouldn't have been possible without signing xhaka but equally has a similar kind of impact on further recruitment because of his own quality. Was told significant sum still available and being kept aside for a significant forward target, one of which we have chased all summer but selling club have played funny buggers with the price
