Got Bristol City in with a chance of the top league for the first time since the 1970s!, What does that bloke want or expect!

He said he did well to get them in - albeit the other teams collapsed - but he was truly heading for the sack prior to his compassionate leave. He was probably a couple of games away from being sacked at that point but he then had some time away and after coming back the fans cut him slack when beforehand they were turning on him

Apparently the football is slow, they don’t play with enough width because the wing backs have to provide all the width at both ends and they have lots of games where they have loads of possession but don’t create meaningful chances. He’s very wedded to his tactics. That was enough to turn me off

For me personally, I’d be really happy if WS is our next manager. Young progressive manager with top league experience in France, dealt with losing big players well, and bringing through youngsters, and adaptable.
Is probably just my favourite ahead of Rohl.
Plays exciting football, and was pretty impressive, when doing the Monday night tactical section on sky the other week, (after his Southampton interview)? :emoticon-0102-bigsm

    I'm Rohl over Still, personally.

If people like listening to the managers interviews then you should be really against Still. He can barely talk based on his MNF appearance

Think it’s as risky an appointment we could realistically make, so it’s a big no from me.

Don't know anything about him, but 32 and only 125 games as a head coach in foreign leagues seems risky to me. 8th place with Lens doesn't appear to be a great achievement given that they nearly won the league a couple of years ago before he was there.
    No for me too.

I haven't seen it but I read that he came across really well and tactically astute?

Yeah I’d be far more open to it if we were going into a PL season where we need to take some risks to have any chance of staying up.

We don’t need to to be in with a shot of promotion imo and something like this could really backfire. 32 year old who’s never even managed in England seems like an insane risk to take ahead of this season, but also sounds like the high risk/high reward strategy we always like to take

Had to sell a lot of their best players after that 2nd place finish though.

Claude Puel had a much better record in France with many years experience and some success at big clubs there but even he was doubted by fans for the fact he had never coached in England.

I wasn't aware of that, I don't really follow foreign leagues much.

Not for me, could barely talk and breathe at the same time. Maybe it’s just the way he is but can’t see him being very inspiring.

He might be a top manager and go on to be really successful, just feels like a risk we don’t need to take right now. We tend to like the risky option going back a decade with different people making the decisions so wouldn’t surprise me if the club see it differently to me

I agree that he would be too big a risk. Not an appointment i would be happy with at all.

Yeah neither do I, but a handful of outgoings between 20m-40m including Khusanov to Man City and Openda to Leipzig.

Doesn't look like they spent much at all on replacements.
