Lets just all keep everything crossed that we get through. Because if we do, the summer window will surely be less shoot from the hip. We will see a huge amount of outgoings, non renewed contracts perhaps and 'selected' signings. If we do, the nucleus of this season at last stays together and gives a great platform.

The Summer transfer strategy at this moment should be very simple:

A proper goal scorer to help Pedro.

Cover at centre half/buy Fin Burns

A proper Number 6 (assuming this Matazo isn’t one, I don’t think he is).

Cover for the left wing once Gelhardt goes back (if we don’t sort this winger coming in this window).

Back up keeper to Pandur.

5 signings, no pissing about, hang onto Alzate, Pandur and Jones.

Rushworth - Loan
Lincoln - Loan
Puerta - Loan
Gelhardt - Loan
Burns - Loan
Potential Left back- loan

Puerta we are buying, but we’ll have to get a shift on otherwise somebody is missing out.
Didn’t realise Puerta was a loan, hopefully we will.

So if we take away the team that did it then no one did it.

We also didn't beat Leeds in either game, split results against Southampton, and didn't beat WBA in either game. You don't need to do the double over a team to progress in the play-offs..

Yes and Ipswich could have won the PL as the season started, but I think it's a bit more than a guess to have suggested they weren't going to.

I don't know why people keep bringing this up as if it's still in any way relevant, and yet it's the same group that moan whenever people bring up how daft it was to sack Rosenior. They say it's been done and to stop talking about it, but then carry on about how we should have been promoted.
To break a rule,
a sixth place finish would have seen us play perpetual play off successes Leeds :emoticon-0136-giggl, then Southampton at Wembley. In the last ten games Southampton gained one more point than us, lost three of their last four on the spin and won their last match
at already guaranteed third place finishers Leeds.
I'm guessing we'd have won the play offs, you're guessing we wouldn't have.
Abridged version, anything© can happen in the play offs.
© Peterborough United v Sheffield Wednesday.
That is definitely all.

Anyone saying we weren’t a play off contender last season is simply saying that so they have a weird stick to beat Acun with. I was there during the early months of 2024 and at no point did I think qualifying for the play offs was pointless.

This bloke says we've signed him but don't know how reliable he is. He's a tv reporter with 300,000+ followers.

His quality was obvious straight away, he was just so off the pace when he first came and everyone was piling on him as a donkey.
Hard to judge someone's quality when they get about 8 touches of the ball per game, cos the managers system insists we pump 40 high crosses into the box despite none of the strikers being an Andy Carroll type.

I don’t know, I and a couple others (I think maybe Newcastle and Dennis) spotted his talent straight away whilst most people on here were busy berating him as a lazy, immobile donkey.

On this note, the views on Bedia's debut in the match thread from Millwall (H) will be an interesting look back. A lot of people were easily impressed.

You seriously think we would have beaten Leeds or Southampton?

We’d beaten Southampton already. Was every chance we could’ve, Leeds had our number though. We didn’t really lay a glove on them with 11 in the first and then kept the ball well in the 2nd but paid the price

its knockout football

anything can happen, its silly to say we absolutely wouldnt beat any of them in knockouts
its a pointless discussion though as its gone and past

I wasn’t expecting the level he’s now at, but you could clearly see our structure was better with him at the helm. Bedia had a few decent games but they were all extremely chaotic, he seemed to thrive off it but now he’s being asked to play a more rigid, demanding style he looks completely lost. Boro when he came on, he looked a competiton winner

We played out of our skin to beat Southampton, I don't think it was going to happen again. But yes much more likely to beat them than Leeds. Shame we would have had to beat both!

Swedish press reporting that AIK (Seb Larssons old club) are in contact with Xavier Simons about a transfer

https://www.aftonbladet.se/sportbla...re-tagit-kontakt-med-hull-citys-xavier-simons

Quick translation

"According to Sportbladets information, a transfer from The Championship in England might be on the way. It's regarding the 21 year old midfielder Xavier Simons, that AIK are considering bringing in.

A first contact between the clubs is reported to have taken place and discussions are ongoing, but nothing is confirmed as of yet, but the upcoming days should give us more information regarding if a transfer of the Englshmen is possible"

Re a goalscorer to help Pedro... haven't we 'maybe' just signed one... and perhaps the number 6 will be Zambrano depending on how his appeal goes...

All moot.. we need to finish 21st or higher..
