You only get jailed for those if you meet a certain set of criteria.

Unless it's something totally extreme ( direct threats to kill for example ) I don't think people should be jailed for tweets or social media posts, especially when people like Huw Edwards walk away with no time inside

I think what irks people the most is that we see on a weekly basis these demonstrations in London and elsewhere, whereby people are shouting and holding placards with extremely offensive things, just as bad as these people have done online, but the police and the authorities just turn a blind eye, saying nothing to see here.

People have been arrested and charged over offensive placards and offensive language.

The years of harassment and threats suffered by the parents of the Sandy Hook victims is a case in point.
