The idea (and reality) that people have been jailed for years for writing horrible words on social media and then heinous nonces walk out of court and go home is the ridiculous thing.
What's the temperature like on planet Zog(I take it that's where you're currently stationed)...****ing freezing up here
This stuff reminds me of the 'I'm Alan Partidge' episode where the woman complains to Alan about potential injuries... But...what if your arm bursts???
Has anyone been jailed for a comment on twitter that isn't calling for a race war, death of someone or a part of a protracted stalking case?
I think what irks people the most is that we see on a weekly basis these demonstrations in London and elsewhere, whereby people are shouting and holding placards with extremely offensive things, just as bad as these people have done online, but the police and the authorities just turn a blind eye, saying nothing to see here.
And so it should, I agree. US style unregulated free speech is horrendous. The years of harassment and threats suffered by the parents of the Sandy Hook victims is a case in point.
It's funny how the people who get their knickers in a twist about things that don't exist are also the ones who complain about 'wokeism', and 'cancel culture'. Just a coincidence, I'm sure.
No, we have an independent judiciary. Ultimately juries will set precedents if it ever goes that far.
