Good post - also suspect the CPS are taking time to ensure they have a water tight case before it goes to court ...
Yeh he lost me when he said No one asked you to be farmers just sell your ****. Kinda dickhead thing to say
I have ... Capital allowances are effectively tax depreciation ... ... and Ponky could still, potentially, get tax relief on the cost of the van...even now ...
Pms with fosse Has a real songs of praise/queens speech/ watching England games vibe to it don't you think
Anyway back to this ^ I listened to quite a few farmers today, and despite listening to them, never really understood their argument, other than claiming the government figures are wrong - but they are not wrong, the method used to calculate them is different dependent on what side of the fence you sit. First of all I take people Like Clarkson out the argument, because all that does is pollute the conversation and as we see on here just brings out the hate in the debate. Secondly and more importantly, I found one woman farmers argument very interesting, in that it does not really affect younger people like herself, because there are loopholes you can use to get round it - she was saying it directly affects the farm where the parents are old, I'm talking old old, and will not be able to use the seven year rule. I suppose that's what some will say is tough, but I'd be more interested in numbers of that age bracket and how many land grabbers fall into that net. Dependent on how that looked I would say it was something the government could/should consider, in short are you catching the people you want or will the seven year thing catch the wrong people in the immediate future. Finally the accountant as i said was very direct, but I never saw a decent argument against him, and calling him marxist is as bad as the other side quoting Clarkson. Maybe the accountant brought it on himself, but he flattened in one interview all the arguments I'd listened to....which says to me the government have got it right, but they might just need to tweak it a bit... I think offering something is better than offering nothing, just needs a bit of savvy to stave off any future farmer actions.
