Brighton seemed upset when they released him. I think we've snapped up a decent player if prem fans weren't too pleased. UTT

What's this about building a shelf, you don't build shelfs they are just planks of wood.

    Nice entry.

(As the actress said to the greased up Vicar).

    Hull City AFC

On the 9th of September 2024 it was reported by Jude Ellerington and was announced that Steven had joined the mighty Hull City as a free agent. UTT.

Great that he says in a Y Post interview he knows Gustavo Puerta and Ryan Longman... that midfield might just begin to click very quickly... even if they're speaking Spanish and the rest a mix of languages...

There are definitely a few ‘shelfs’ on here.

It was essentially both. When the bosman ruling happened it left teams and UEFA open to a few legal issues surrounding notice periods. But it was also to maintain some competitive integrity as you did have some situations of players leaving teams with nothing to play for to go to title contenders on short term deals.

For what it's worth, you still get that now with keepers (we loaned Ingram to Luton a couple of season ago for their playoff campaign).

There still needed to be a compelling political argument to justify it. And as I recall there were a few highlighted cases across Europe which provided a sense of injustice amongst fans.

That at the very least helped provide a backdrop for the legislation/arbitration at the time.

Believe that fell under the emergency loan that applies to goalkeepers however

It sounds a useful signing, Brighton fans seem to rate him, look forward to seeing him in action.

And to get it approved you need to submit substantial proof of the injuries you have to your own GK's. It is not as easy as saying 'We are in the title race, lets get a new goalie'.

They get some stick at times from some so to help balance a bit, just listened to latest 1904 club podcast. Alzate signing etc. A decent listen tbf.
Only niggle for me was that they didn't seem to know that he'd been training with Ipswich and that he'd have several other offers, that we'd shown earlier interest then firmed up.to take him.
    Decent listen overall. For free

Its pretty easy to get a keeper injured in those circumstances though.

Fletch threw 3 names in which were all convincingly (to me anyway) dismissed by Baz due to them being old, experienced and very expensive (Billy Sharp wasn't one of them but all of the same ilk). Baz did indicate something could still happen on the striker front as they had not given up (my words).

I did like the fact Baz said if people were slagging him off (for stuff he didn't actually say by the way), then someone else was having a quieter week.

    I like him.
