Ekwah will never be a defensive midfielder. He doesn't have the awareness or the work rate

Can't remember how or where I read it but he actually played as a number 10 originally as a youth. Only moved back into centre mid when he developed into the size he is and "looked" like a defensive midfielder.

Agree,if our judgement is they won't reach the required standard and we can replace with better,no argument. However,we've seen something in these lads and with better and more settled coaching,I wouldn't write them all off. They could yet produce their promise.
I heard they've decided this with Ba, you've gotta have the application as well as that smidge of talent and potential. They're seeing him loaned out apparently.

I would be inclined to agree with you and it was one of my main frustrations with Mowbray last season trying to shoehorn him in there (and swap him with Neil) despite his being so much more effective as more of an 8 in the season prior.

But I was just commenting on that Preston game and I thought he was effective.

Also, everyone looks so well drilled under Le Bris that maybe he could be more effective there than previously.

I’m intrigued to see Browne sitting more on Saturday as from what I’ve seen of him, his main strength seems to be his energy, harrying and running. I’m looking forward to seeing how his positional discipline and reading of the game is. Hopefully decent for the sake of getting a result whilst Neil is out.

If Ekwah is a £6m+ player does that not come with him wanting guaranteed minutes as well though? The 6 that comes in doesn't have to cost that much either, it could be an older head or a full on developmental signing. Just someone who can replace Neil without losing what he brings.

I don't see the fit in the current system personally when you look at the profiles of the current starting midfielders and what they are being asked to do but I do like him as a player. Think I said on here a few months ago that if all of our players reach their full ceiling he'd probably be the best player.

Michut on a free would do me.

I don’t recall ever having seen him play but based on stats alone he’s been very good in a relatively poor team.

Mind, I guess this ends any chance of them getting Ryan Giles and considering how well he did for them in his last stint that may be no bad thing.

He won’t be leaving Hull. Started every game so far this season
