With respect, we didn't pin our hopes on a young Harry Maguire, he had a very slow start to his Hull City career and, ironically, went out on loan to Wigan as he couldn't get into the team.

I think we are pinning our hopes on Hughes, Macca doesn't look up to it and we've looked very fragile at the back. I have faith Hughes will do the business though

Don't get me wrong, players the calibre of Maguire don't come around every day, but just pointing out that sometimes it works.

Also worth pointing out that when we signed Maguire we were in the Prem, and had a first choice CB pairing of Davies and Chester so it was a much bigger step up, so no surprise he couldn't breakthrough.

Given what GFAW posted just before your reply, I'm very happy with this business.

There we go, now everyone can be happy.

Went have they bothered getting him to pose? Surely would've been quicker to just take a quick photo on your phone and use that. Why even bother with a picture.

**** it lets not even announce it, you can find out when he's in the starting xi.

Jokes aside, imagine how much better it would be if the first time you knew we'd signed someone was when they were on the pitch.

I don't understand the situation over the Hughes release clause. If it were 3.5m you would think that's easily affordable for us and with it being a release clause there would be no need for negotiating and no additional clauses, a great deal.

Baz's article suggests negotiations took place which surely means we didn't want to pay 3.5m upfront and have agreed a deal costing more than 3.5m but structured in a way where we spend less upfront?

I would rather have speed over the recruitment announcements than all this fancy dan social media ****e!
Crap isnt it. Always trying to be funnier or better than other clubs announcements. Just put a highlights reel out and an interview with Tim as to why he wanted him. Thank you.

I think the 3.5 just forced them to negotiate with us. I agree though those sorts of clauses are weird.

Who do you think we should be signing instead?

Not my job to scout players, and I can see why some fans are excited about the signing. But there seems to be a bit of blind faith attached to it by thinking he is going to transform our defence - in some quarters

I wasn’t having a pop, just intrigued as to what sort of signing you’d prefer.

It might not work out, but at the same time I’d rather buy a few prospects and hope to make money on some - even if you lose out on others.

Hopefully he will, but not having seen him, I don’t know, like many we hope he’s going to improve the defence ( Hope is a big word) but if he’s a good player and we seemed to have been after him for a decent amount of time plus Wigan fans seemed to have liked him which is always a good sign then let’s hope he improves our very dodgy defence. Time will tell.
