Yeah sorry I mean from a player's perspective they'd look at how other young guys came and kicked on with us.
I think to a certain extent it's understandable to be struggling to sign players. We're not the only ones, and there are some mitigating factors which are making things difficult. But it's not just the lack of signings, it's the combination of that and the sheer number of players we've found ourselves needing, which in various ways could've been avoided. A lot was made of the number of loanees last season. I didn't have a big problem with that specifically, but I think you need to have some succession planning, and we clearly haven't. Too many of our signings end up out of favour or out of the club. The fact that every signing we made last summer has now left the club is shambolic. Obviously in the immediate term we need players in to get us ready for the season that's about to start, but in the medium term we really need to improve the longevity of our recruitment. We can't be signing players and replacing them within a year on a routine basis. I look at Mehlem now and I worry that in a few months Walter might be gone and then will he still be wanted? We can't go on with this level of short-term planning. So much is made of the Brentford and Brighton model, but a big part of that is that your recruitment is very deliberate and considered and you don't just churn through players all the time and then give up on them a year after signing them.
We really are broken records on this. I've realised I'm the same but, it really is the exact same conversations. We might aswell not say anything until one a player is signed. Or two it gets to Friday we've signed nobody and everyone can be rightfully pissed off again. Until either of those though. Is there really any point saying the same things over and over?
And yes before you say. I know I can ignore buy, I do like the occasional rumour which re hidden amongst the repeated conversations
Great post this. I’ve been saying this for a while. We knew Greaves and Philogene were going why wait to sell replace them. The Jan window was a farce to be honest. Despite signing good players it was very short term, we could only go up by the play offs with a 10/1 chance of going up. We should have been singing 3/4 players for the long term at decent ages with a sell on. They’d be integrated now and we wouldn’t be in this mess, especially with the league looking less strong this season.
With al the speculation flying about the silence from Acun, Tan & even Baz speaks volumes. Acun is a self proclaimed reader of all the social media (perhaps forums ) so will be aware of what is doing the rounds. No comment today from anyone will only pour more fuel on the fire. Surely all this noise would also be a huge red flag to any City journalists…surely something coming out in the HDM would also be expected. It’s not as if the season starts in a few days.
I dont think he cares what we say about him. His love is fenerbache and we are just a business interest to him now. His passion for our club that he had seems to be diminishing by the minute
i seem to recall that one season in history hull kr lost their first four matches and went on to win the league. bit of a long shot, but that might be our one hope.
Lets be fair you can count the number of times Rovers have won the league on the fingers of one hand so shouldn't be difficult to check...Assuming that's the top league. I dare say they've won the second division a few times. As for City...Who knows what will happen this season!! Interesting that the so called experts on UTube etc are predicting 2024/25 will be one of the poorest Championships in terms of quality. Those teams coming down and not likely to rip it up and there's not an Ipswich to race through it.
I know I’ve said this a lot (I’m even boring myself with it) but as this is a big week that will tell us a lot about what really is going on, it means every day is now hugely significant. Let’s hope we get something from the club today, so we no longer have to keep guessing. I enjoy transfer rumours, but not when that might mean the chairman.
I for one will be surprised if we see any incomings this week. We seem to be the masters of letting other clubs know our business and targets which immediately prompts other clubs to hijack our offers....Not a good scenario...Could be a long cold lonely winter.
DO you not think that other clubs are playing hardball with us because off the JG JP transfers. You cant blame a club like Wigan as an example...
That, or even having looked at the free agent list at the end of the season and having a few ready to sign the dotted line on contract expiry. We got Drameh after weeks, but willock i thought would've been already made a done deal before the season ended, plus a couple more. But i felt the same with the manager. When Rosie got **** canned, whether you agreed and the time or not I at least expected that they had a replacement lined up. But no, we were scrabbling round trying to find a manager with no real idea who they would want as a transfer target. Im sure by the end of the transfer window we'll have a squad with no danger of a relegation fight- but after finishing 7th (and sacking the manager) and getting 30m for 2 players I'd have wished that wasn't the target.
