Before RLB came in I was under the impression Mayenda was up for loan and Rusyn was backup. I feel like RLB has changed that pecking order
I agree with that entirely. I'd say our first choice XI is (or will be) Patterson Hume Ballard O'Nien Cirkin Neil Browne Roberts Jobe Clarke New Striker With a back up XI of Browne Pembele Triantis Hjelde Alese Rigg Ekwah Poveda Aouchiche Mundle Mayenda/Rusyn The ones in bold are where I'd question if they are good enough to be genuine back ups and/or provide competition If we ship out Pembele and or Ekwah then I think we need replacements. Matete, Hemir and co look surplus to requirements
Yeah, as I said earlier the only signing we really need to make is a striker, until/unless players leave then you can look at plugging those gaps. I suspect some combination of the new striker, Mayenda and Rusyn is sufficient for a team that plays with one striker. Also Triantis has had a light injury, he travelled to Spain but didn't train, I've not heard an update but assume he has been in training this week.
If Neil picks up an injury we will struggle massively. There's no-one else at the club who can play the role he does...
The two German lads weren't successful, and,as you say,Burstow's loan didn't work. I am sceptical about Jewi, although I'd love to be proved wrong. Overall though, I think most of the young players we've acquired have loads of promise and the loan of Amad was outstanding. On the whole,I'm very supportive of our recruitment to date. Memo to Stuart Harvey....".Find us a striker FFS!"
me neither, I’m comfortable but that seems to what most people in here are saying they would like to see more of. If Ekwah goes then I’d move for DM but if not, it’s fine.
Missed this part. We will have Seelt back in training around October/November. That said, plenty of centre back pairings have two right footers, I don't see a problem with having two left footers, not perfect but totally normal.
I think it’ll make a huge difference to the team in my opinion, Dan Neil is great at picking the ball up of the back 4 to then try and start the attacks going into midfield and playing through the lines it’s out of possession I think it’ll improve us massively as a specialist CDM will be cutting the ball out, getting in the way of the opposition playing through the lines and forcing them wide etc, it’ll also allow the forward players that little bit more freedom as we won’t be caught out or broken on as quickly through the middle! All opinion of course
Dajaku! Yeah I'd have to take the hit on that one, he was actually a loan that we were forced to make permanent if memory serves.
Same here but i think Mayenda could offer something this season. Hes in line to start vs Cardiff, would be buzzing if he scored as a goal massively changes a strikers confidence
I really like him to be honest. Very impressed by him. Still raw needs to work on his attacking positioning at times and get that open play goal
I think due to squad size, this is where I stand now as well, Neil will likely do that job for us and the likes of Browne, Triantis and even Matete can deputise competantly. To be honest I don't think we're going to play with an out-and-out DM, probably two box-to-box players where when ones goes, the other sits.
We've played with Neil sitting and two 8s either side of him in every pre season game he's played. RLB has also mentioned Jobe being a left central midfielder.
Agreed, I like him. suspect he will be kept around the squad and play for the 21’s when he’s not been involved with a first team game. Similar to what we did with Rigg last year. but that would depend on if we get one striker or two.
More of a cultured holding midfielder myself (unfit and can't be bothered to get up and down the pitch)
Many a striker been chucked in the deep end and never looked back. Nowt to say Mayenda doesn’t do this.
