Bring a centre back in an O’Nien can cover Hume at RB, Alese can cover Left sided centre half and LB and can Hjelde

Not so sure myself. He's a top end 8 in the championship so I want him playing 40+ games in that position instead of making us weaker by playing him out of position, similar to how we played Ekwah last season. Really don't think we have anyone capable of filling in for Neil. Let Ekwah go, bring in a DM and a forward with the money.

If you look at how we have performed Forest/Blackpool I can’t see any Dodds/Proctor effect in those performances.Down to LeBris I would think, and if he is comfortable having them around then why not.

if we let Ekwah go then I can absolutely see us going for a more defensive minded midfielder.

as I’ve said previous, I like him but he should be showcasing his ability much more than he does given his age now.

so frustrating because he looks built perfectly for that kind of role but just can’t do it, kind of player that will go into this season and either have a blinder or no where near the first 11, no in between.

That's not what anyone is saying. What's being said is, due to our budget and, to some extent, due to our standing relative to other clubs at the moment, we're having to take a little bit of a punt on players, particularly centre forwards (rolling the dice was the term someone else used). It's daft to overspend on a player that you're not sure about. Grigg is just an example of doing that. No one is saying we should be hesitant of signing players because we had our fingers burnt over him. He's just an example of an overspend on a panic signing that wasn't suited to us.

Some people will absolutely hate that spreadsheet mind, we all like a good scarf picture, gets the dopamine flowing, but the sheet suggests we probably shouldn't hit the dopamine too much this summer.

We do have good scouts tho, theyve brought in plenty of quality. Have they got transfers wrong, of course they have but tell me a team that hasnt got ones wrong?

I really wish scouting was as easy as you are making out

Honestly, since the new regime, I'm struggling to think of one they've got wrong, even the young lads who haven't hit the ground running have plenty of time to become a success.

Edit:: Maybe some of the loans.

You don't, otherwise you'd be out of a job, as anyone could do it!

Don't think we'll sign a LB when we have Alese, Cirkin, Hjelde and Hume all capable of playing there. Huggins to come back for 2nd half of the season hopefully.
I'd like another midfielder, ideally someone who can play CDM

Naturally if any of the first teamers go, we'll need to replace them

We're bloated as a squad currently, so much mediocrity in the bench options.

At this point back up players have to be 1 of 3 things:

    1) genuinely competing for a start and not truly a back up (e.g. Ba, Alese)

    2) young/raw with massive upside (e.g Rigg, Mayenda)

    3) consistent back ups who provide experience (Moore)

I don't see Matete, Embo, Hemir, Benette and Pembele in any of those categories.

Rusyn is only in category 1 by default of having no strikers. Hjelde the same due to injuries.

Ekwah is firmly in category 1, but I could understand us selling him (Browne, Jobe and Rigg can all do his job) to fund a different profile of midfielder that we're less stocked on.

I think we could sell Matete, Embo and Jewi without even having to replace them.

I'd imagine Matete, Bennette and possibly Embo will be away from that list. Sounds like Pembele might go too
    Hemir out on loan maybe?
Ideally we need a CB who can play on the right too (or do we leave that to LO9?)
Interested to see if Triantis can take a step up and fill that CDM role he did for Hibs - has he played much in pre season? Can't remember seeing his name mentioned much

So the general consensus judging from just the replies to my questions is we are mostly in agreement that once we get a striker through the door we mostly want to concentrate on outgoings then.

I don’t think we necessarily NEED a dcm

but can understand why some think we do at the same time

Hasn't played, assume it's due to injury as he travelled to Spain with the lads but hasn't even been on the bench
