Are you sure? The stats suggest otherwise. Compared to strikers in that league and beyond he ranks in the lower percentiles for touches outside the final third. Not saying he couldn’t do it but it doesn’t seem to have been his game in his last few successful seasons.
Just from what I’ve seen from this mate must have got it mixed up but his hold up play looks solid when he does occasionally get the ball deeper
This is why I want a loan alongside him. Someone who has played at this level and has been shown to be decent.
As Bielsa says about goalscorers ….regardless of what league they’ve played in, if they know where the goal is, they know where the goal is!
Some of the goals he’s scored too. He has really good technique and doesn’t half have a ****ing corker of a shot on him. Also his headers he has a good leap on him too
If that's the case we won't sign another striker then, I'd have thought. Jobe is still an unknown position wise. If Le Bris fancies him there, fair enough, but I'd be anxious we are short. Hopefully Jobe improves.
Sounds like he'll give us an outlet and focal point to aim for and take the pressure off, something we were crying out for last season, not just goals
I won’t be at all surprised if we land Jebbison on loan. Bill Foley, Bournemouth owner, also holds a minority stake in Lorient, Le Bris’ former club.
I remember when we signed Quinn, he had a bad run with injuries, there was one game at The Sol after his come back, he missed a sitter, v Norwich I think, I was in the pub with afterwards (The Avenue, whatever it was called back then) and one of the lads I was out shouted "Lads, this daft ****er thinks Quinn is a good player" I did say if we gave him the service he would prove it, players need the right service, I am rambling, maybe the penny will drop with Hemir, he did seem more aggressive on his last outing, good luck to the lad
Would like to see Mendy & Hemir up front together. If they use theirs strengths they'd give centre backs a right going over!!!
Championship is a lot more forgiving than the Premiership, besides there are no guarantees in football, we just have to ride the wave and hope the people in charge know what they're doing and they've got it mostly right thus far.
I think he’d probably have been okay/good at championship level. on a tangential observation do you reckon he was our worst well liked player? He seemed generally popular despite being mostly useless for us or is that revisionist memory based on swapping him for Defoe?
