Transfer Rumours Summer 2024 transfer thread

Who honestly cares if we came 7th when we should have come 5th? We still weren't going up nor were we expected to, so we'd have still been in this position. I'm not sure why people are so fixated on last season as explaining the situation we find ourselves in.

I dunno with how **** the playoff games were. If we'd finished 5th I reckon we had a really good chance of winning them.

So the striker joining this week is a big name first choice striker? I look forward to seeing who it is then.

From the vibe on here at the moment, regarding any of our signings; I think they're either going to be **** or going to be too expensive for a club of our size without parachute payments.

It does feel very much 'can't win' at the moment. I'm happy enough to see where we're at after a ball has been kicked and then once the window closes.

Brid would absolutely take the smile off his face
It possibly made him want to resign imo

There will have been a lot more Hull people in Bridlington this week than Brid folk in Hull. And a lot more traffic from other places coming in to Brid than Hull, daft lad.

It’s almost universally known we should have achieved more last season amongst all fans bar ours, nostalgia blinds.

But that's because they see 4/5/6 really good players and completely ignore that the squad was complete dross. As the January sticky patch proved, once we got a couple of injuries we were a poor side. And that's why we didn't get top 6. Had Delap and Jaden not got injured and if there was no AFCON, we'd have strolled into the playoffs.

To save me back checking here, if the big two do leave as expected can someone clarify approximately how much there will be to spend in the transfer kitty under FFP. I'm guessing it will be the £14million cap plus whatever they get from the two big sales, £40m plus. Is that correct, or not?

Couldn't possibly have been down to being too cautious in most games and failing to create chances.

If you approach with the prerequisite 'nobody has a clue' then you'll never go far wrong

It's probably safe to assume that there was very little value in player sales last year with £2m for Allahyar, £1.5m for Tetteh, £2m for Tufan and let's be generous and say £1m for Allsop. So at best that's £6.5m raked in, while we paid for Lokilo (£450k apparently), Allsop (£1m), Furlong (£200k), Pandur (£1.6m), Omur (£2.5m) and Philogene (£5m)

Generous for Allsop?<laugh>

There’s no way Birmingham are paying that! I’d say £250-£500k tops, & I’m being generous!
