It’s an opportunity for the likes of Sincere Hall, Rocco Coyle and Stan Ashbee to make a real impression. All big talents do with every cloud…

I think things get oversimplified sometimes. Like arguing here about whether we have FFP concerns or not and who is right and who is wrong. Well, every club has to keep an eye on the FFP situation. It sounds like our situation is that we want to sell our PL-ready players and invest the profits. This is the model people have talked about wanting. So whilst we might not be at any risk of breaches, we always have an FFP concern in the sense that we're always thinking about how best to manage it.

The lack of signings to date realistically is probably just the way it is. It takes time to get deals done, always does for us. Not having a manager for the first few weeks of the summer will have pushed things back a little bit further too. I've not seen any serious suggestion that we're unable to sign players at all until the outgoings are done.

It's logical to say we can't sign a third string striker in case we don't get enough from Greaves' sale?

If we started the new signings with a third choice striker, everyone would go into meltdown about the **** quality additions we were making, they can't win.

The important thing, is that we start the season with a decent team, everything else is just fluff.

If I was in charge of Hull City, I would definitely be saying we have FFP concerns as a lever for making sure we don't get fleeced once the JG/JP money comes in.

On a broader note, I think it is very very likely that the club has noticed it doesn't have enough players, and they will be doing something about it. The fact that they aren't wiffling on in the press about their targets is an extremely good thing. The time for condemning our transfer activity this summer is after it has been completed, not before it has even started in earnest.

I think it's just the scale of the rebuild now, we probably need a RB, LB, 2x CBs, 3 midfielders, a 10, 4 wingers and 3 strikers.

That's 15 new arrivals, it's some ask.

Indeed - basic stuff really.

Same with transfer fees, often suits both parties to leak lower amounts to the press.

They've definitely hit the reset button, and hit it properly. Will be very interesting to see what we end up looking like and I'd be curious to know how much Walter has a hand in the outgoings; ie, what's his plan for how our team needs to look by the time the season starts and what positions does he want to prioritise.

So the striker joining this week is a big name first choice striker? I look forward to seeing who it is then.

I guess there's benefits to playing a friendly before making a host of signings also. Tim needs to make some decisions on how happy he is with Jacobs(assuming Giles goes), Coyle, Jones and McLoughlin because this impacts whether we are trying to sign starters or backups in these areas and dictates how much we have to spend in other areas. I have a feeling Simons might come in as a squad player for us this season and I still hold hope for Jarvis in the 2nd half of the season.

It’s almost universally known we should have achieved more last season amongst all fans bar ours, nostalgia blinds.

Who honestly cares if we came 7th when we should have come 5th? We still weren't going up nor were we expected to, so we'd have still been in this position. I'm not sure why people are so fixated on last season as explaining the situation we find ourselves in.
