I agree with this. I think if a new coach comes in and gives his own ideas, the players need to be freed from the previous ideas, particularly as they didn't work.

Absolutely. The nagging doubt is Speakman wants his unsackable boys on the inside reporting back to him. If they are out the picture fair do's and let's get behind the new HC. If not it will be more of the same imo.

Well,we don't know yet mate. We've not even had confirmation of RLB. Let's see where the next couple of days takes us.

On the staffing discussion, I don't think what is being implied is that RLB will be bringing a full team with him. I imagine he'll bring 1 or maybe 2, but I think anything else will have input from the club and will be here for Sunderland, not necessarily RLB men if that makes sense.
That’s how I read it,

Maybe if you're going to appoint yourself as spokesman for 'most fans'.

I don't think I would ever do that! Nothing in my make up would ever have indicated that! I'm just going by the posts from people.
However,if you're looking for some kind of unfounded confrontation.....bring it on.

Not really, I just don't like the scapegoating of Dodds' position and I don't like, in any walk of life, when people claim to speak for the majority when a lot of the time they're only representing a vocal minority.

I never claimed to be speaking for the majority, what is wrong with you? However,I have ventured the opinion that,in the event of a new coach coming in,it may be difficult for Dodds and Proctor,or,more specifically, for the new coach to retain them, given their influence over the players in the last 6 months or so.

That is pure conjecture based on no facts at all and is probably just a story in your head that Dodds and Procter will go running like naughty children to tell the big boss that the new boss is doing stuff they don't like.
Do me a favour mate give your head a shake instead of posting ill conceived inflammatory posts with no substance.

To be fair, rumours of this have been around since Mowbray was here.

The Mason Burstow one was even posted on here I recall

Dodds has a really good reputation as a coach and he knows the players. Any Head Coach with any sense would be utilising his skills and his knowledge.

The whole issue surrounding Dodds and Proctor, from the insistance that they were the problem in appointing a new Head Coach to the idea that they will somehow undermine Reggie, is absolutely bizarre and completely without foundation, in my opinion.

No suggestions of a French themed day at the club, please. We saw enough surrenders last season.
The belief isn’t borne out by the facts unfortunately. The French, like us Brits are one of the most warlike nations to ever walk on this planet. Whilst not actively aggressive towards other nations, the French have a very long history of defending their national interests. They were a global superpower for centuries and only came undone during the first half of last century where their geographical position meant that they were the prime area for major land battles. In the face of the Wehrmacht onslaught any nation other than the USA would have capitulated and in 1939 we were woefully unprepared for war, so who is to say that the British wouldn’t have waved the white flag then?
There were many brave French people who did everything possible to undermine the German occupying forces and paid the ultimate sacrifice. Yes, the Vichy French may have collaborated with Germany but again, who is to say that had the Germans not stopped at the English Channel and continued their advance into our green and pleasant land that the British wouldn’t have done the same? We don’t know the answer because it never happened and thankfully so. But to belittle the French for being cowards and waving the white flag at the first hint of war is doing them a huge disservice.
And here endeth the history lesson. :emoticon-0138-think

You literally started your sentence with 'For most of us....' then made an assertion.

I'm pretty sure we'll get an announcement on Monday, which will detail the new coach and his people together with the roles Dodds and Proctor
