As an ex-mod, let me tell you, the report button was absolutely battered and abused by respected posters you would not even imagine going near it.

He could've been a mag or from OTR, it doesn't matter. He set out his stall to cause bother and achieved it.

Personally I'd ignore anyone trying to disrupt a message board I'm on. Never give them the satisfaction.

On the staffing discussion, I don't think what is being implied is that RLB will be bringing a full team with him. I imagine he'll bring 1 or maybe 2, but I think anything else will have input from the club and will be here for Sunderland, not necessarily RLB men if that makes sense.

Not sure that's true, but if it is,it's more likely to be mental fatigue than physical. I often thought over the final 3rd of last season...these players are being over-coached...they're confused.

No suggestions of a French themed day at the club, please. We saw enough surrenders last season.

I think what this appointment is doing is putting up a mirror to everyone and showing their own mentality.

The fact is that absolutely none of us Sunderland fans know enough about him to make a judgement. His 2 seasons as head coach in France were even so different that there's 2 possible perspectives.

The perspective that people choose to take says everything about them and nothing about RLB.

I've said it before but in my opinion they've been one of the main contributors to the present mentality of a significant proportion of our (online) fanbase and in creating the adversarial relationship they now have with the club.

I'm not talking about criticism of the club, that's always been there and is healthy and should be encouraged when it's informed, constructive and proportionate but what's now pervasive isn't healthy or productive at all, it will only ever be detrimental to any hopes of progress.

I think the difference is that your posts come from a deep, longstanding affection and belonging with the club. There are a number on here who come from the same direction. All your collective posts are expressing a concern about the club we love.
Not to be confused with those who arrive on here to peddle their pre-conceived, mischievous vitriol, designed to disrupt and sow seeds of doubt amongst the most feeble minded within our group.

Just back from trip up in the hills and missed it all quite refreshing having no internet access to be honest
First impression was a bit deflated. Has set my heart on Cifuentes thought he was the man for the job and had dismissed RDB based on nothing but his wiki stats to be honest. Catching up can start to see the logic and also the time line of the delay. Still know very little about him but a year ago he was being looked at by Leeds and was close to joining Nice Absolutely no idea if he will work but he has the development background to bring on the young lads My worry would be is he a good coach and not strong tactically saw that with Beale and Dodds. Hopefully he has learned he has seen both success and failure in his two years. Absolutely no point moaning about what might have been and who we should have got. He’s here now and maybe just maybe like some of the players Clarke in particular we have unearthed a gem that other clubs have written off Time will tell
