Jansen isn't happening. Rosenior has had an interview, but the club are pushing for Marti Cifuentes. The compensation is affordable and they're hopeful of getting it done before the transfer window opens.
I feel like we're all clueless about who it might be. Not one person mentioned Beale before he was announced. I fully believe we've got someone better lined up but we don't half keep our cards close to our chest these days. I think a little more fan engagement with the process would be healthy and stop our heads from spinning quite as fast.
I’m glad that there’s a pre-season to go so if someone like Rosenior does come in, they have some time and with good recruitment done too which it should be he has a good bit of time to get people on board.
Just to play devil's advocate a bit, but I've seen it mentioned a lot about the need to be seen to be making an ambitious or enthusiastic appointment after Beale. Does anyone think that's Pascal Jansen? I'll be honest, I'm a football nerd and his name didn't ring any bells with me until I saw it mentioned. I think there will be 50% of Sunderland fans who wouldn't even know who AZ Alkmaar are, never mind Pascal Jansen. Then half of the ones that do know Az, only do because of Jozy Altidore. It doesn't strike me as the kind of appointment that creates huge excitement. Personally I'll be happy enough to give him a go, but I'm not sure his appointment results in any kind of instant lift.
Pretty much my thoughts. Jansen would be my first choice. Rosenior is young, early in his career, seems pretty switched on though and will probably learnt a lot from that spell at Hull. Seems like a decent bloke and someone I think the players would take a liking to. All for it if Jansen doesn't happen.
The only thing I prefer about Rosenior over Jansen is the championship experience. He’ll have learned an awful lot last season managing a side going for a top 6 spot…
I have a massive affinity towards the Dutch and Dutch footballers/coaches. Barcelona, one of the most storied clubs in the world, owe much of their fame and success to hiring incredible Dutchmen as coaches and players. I'd be excited as it sounds like he has done a really good job at AZ, focusing on youth which will absolutely be his remit here, in a league that is basically closed to anyone but two or three teams. I say we turn the fella into the next Cruyff with his success here. Still not buying the link for now though.
Rosenior wouldn’t offend me in the slightest. I’m all in on Jansen though I’m convinced he’s the one, for all the reasons and all the digging we’ve done in the last 2 days. On Rosenior, start of last season we had a pretty universal consensus that Russel Martin was ****e as he was to focused on possession and not enough cutting edge. Well, they went up and scored in buckets after a slow start. I’d take Rosenior emulating that. We don’t have Adam Armstrong like.
There’s a thread on their page on here it’s all positive towards him, final piece from me before I do something other than sit in here and take every rumour as gospel, it doesn’t matter who we bring in unless our transfer policy is tweaked, flood the squad with more 20 year olds with no senior football and the trend of last season will continue, I’m content with Rosenior and buzzing with Jansen, now I’m going to go and get fresh air or something until this is all sorted
We need to see an appointment over the weekend mind. We simply can not be going into the Euros without someone in place and dedicating their time to the cause.
I really don't get the whinging about rosenior the lad done a good job at hull last year which was lot better then we done. Look around at some of the best clubs in the world and they have struggled to get managers in and maybe had to drop down to there 4th or 5th choice also. Yes I would be happier with jansen but if it's rosenior then I'll be happy with that appointment and give him my full backing.
I’m at a wedding today and won’t be on my phone checking threads, so you can guarantee today’s the day something will happen.
