That also all applies to Rosenior who's my pick. In his case he's young enough to still have lots to learn and ability to evolve his style if it's not working.

I'm not sure about Heck, solid coach should do a good job just zero glamour for the fanbase which seems to be important in terms of how much patience they're given.

Important to remember that Heck has a very recent Championship promotion on his CV, Rosenior a 15th and 7th place finish in his two seasons as manager.

I’m not really convinced it matters to much who we get in. Have we or any club ( apart from 2or3 ) ever had the right manager. It doesn’t appear so, seeing as none last much more than a season. Lost count of how many we’ve had. I’m sure we never employed any of them thinking we should get a few months out of this one, you’d of thought the top boys would have always thought this is the one.

A Maric or Wicky would get a good reaction, I reckon, even at this stage.

A Rosenior probably a collective roll of the eyes but a sigh of relief that its finally over too.

A Heckingbottom would likely see demand for pitchforks at unprecedented levels.
Out of all of the names mention in this saga, its going to be Roseinior

Think the reason a few of us are talking about style is to get points on the board you need a style n system to get the most out of what weve got

Plus i want to be entertained when watching my club, i want to know we will out work every team we come up against and that we will always go out to win games. I get football is a points business but i want to love n look forward to watching my club, we had that our 1st season back in the league

I think its important for us to have an identity as a club on the pitch, means that its then easier (in theory) when replacing a manager as the style is already there

Thats why i was so pi$$ed off with the beale appointment, it was going away from any style of play we were starting to form (TM seemed to go away from that at the start of the season as well)

Im not fussed about a possession based football, i want to see a team that presses high and doesnt stop running for us. Then one that will play with tempo when we have the ball, n play through the lines quickly

Well, thats my thoughts on it - rambled on a bit there lol

I don't disagree, I want all that too.

Hypothetically, if we started the season with the squad we finished with, with minor improvements but still lacking an experienced quality CF and DM, how confident would you be about playing that attacking style of football and getting results?

This is where I can't help but think about Heckingbottom, he's seems to be quite unpopular on here but I have a feeling he would make a right go at the playoffs, maybe fall short but I think we'd be in the hunt.

**** me, we are Sunderland AFC in the second tier of English football.

2nd should be regarded as a just about acceptable failure

It’s sad to see our fans standards have been eroded so far. Random selection of facts:
• One of Englands historic clubs
• 40k fans
• 6 times champions of England
• 10 seasons in the PL 2007-2017
• Didn’t finish lower than 23rd in the pyramid 1995-2018
• Currently on our longest ever spell outside of the top flight

Have some standards ffs. We aren’t a plucky club where challenging for a play off spot is a good season, we aren’t a Millwall, Plymouth or Bristol City or even a Boro, Norwich or WBA, we aren’t a Brentford, Bournemouth or a Brighton.

Not really worth another thread, other than to say that the dropping of 'Anglo-Saxon' is more complicated than solely political motivation. Political manipulation of archaeological data is what my post-grad research was on. With regards Cheddar Man, yes, I've read various conflicting opinions about his appearance.

This is also going on right now in relation to the Adam Rutherford coalition I referred to. If you're familiar with Beachy Head Lady, a skeleton found in East Sussex from the Roman Era, she has a head shape that indicates non-NW European ancestry, so had been stylised as an indicator of African presence in England during that time, except newer autosomal DNA technology shows she is likely from Croatia or the surrounding area. Croatians, if you've ever met one are not subsaharan Africans. This is just one example, I could list more to be honest.

In that case non of the linked names are good enough, we need that Potter fella who was a Chelsea or someone of that ilk.

It's also 2024, you've got to move forward, you can't live off of history. This way of thinking can be very dangerous sometimes. We are building up again and it's taking time but we will get there. Not saying you do but most with this mindset are screaming for us to throw millions at it to try and get up because "we are Sunderland not so and so"

I'm beginning to think it might be Still after all. I can't see Lens being particularly appealing to an ambitious coach given the problems they seem to have. I also think that if Still had knocked us back the club would have let it leak by now. Hopefully we find out soon...

The billionaire owner should think about why he’s bought a random football club if not to bankroll it

We are not an experiment for a billionaire child to set himself a daft challenge

What do them PRE WAR titles have to do with @alcoauth wanting Heckingbottom?

I personally think you have low standards if you think being a nothing team in the PL is a barometer of success. Lets face it, we were in the PL for all them years but how many of them were enjoyable?

Give us your suggestions and let me shoot them down please.

Most of them. Beat the mags regularly (most important), had some great results against the money clubs, cup final, regular unbelievable runs late season to stop up etc

You can't bank roll clubs anymore. Keep up with the ****ing times man. The mags are the richest club in the world yet are going to have to sell to buy. Villa are in the champions league and have to sell to buy. But you want us, a championship side, to be bankrolled? It doesn't work like that.
