Same mate, really under appreciated here, still likes a forward to run the channels too could joffy do that? Don’t see a reason why not
Wasn’t he carrying a knock and still playing while here? I remember Mowbary or someone saying how quick he was but I don’t think we really saw that and it could have been cause he was playing through the pain barrier as he was out only option. Maybe we’d see more runs in the channel from him if fully fit? I wouldn’t be against him coming back but we’d need another target man style striker as well

According to Mowbray, yes. I liked him, reckon he’ll be a good player at this level when he’s settled somewhere.

Rigg, who we were playing wide right at the back end of the season to accommodate Jobe centrally? <doh>

Jobe should be nowhere near the starting XI for me like but hey ho. Guarantee he’s one of the first names on the team sheet in August, regardless of who we sign.

7 goals for a lad who started the season as a 17 year old. Hes a popular boo boy but thats good output.

Assuming he progresses again this season we could well be looking at double figures.

Riggy will either be an 8 or a 10 and needs opportunities as both.

We need a proper striker who lives and breathes getting in to areas where he can score, rather than the false 9 dropping deep and linking type.

Absolutely, that’s the main issue in this team 100%. Proper striker and a CDM before anything else.

agreed.

no one will say wyke was a great goal scorer but he got himself into the right places and sometimes that is all a striker needs...that instinct of simply 'being there'.

We’ve got quite a big squad when the lads out on loan return this summer. We’ll have to shift a few
Bass, Mayenda, Embleton, Matete, Bennette, Anderson, Hemir, Bishop and Triantis I think will all leave either on loan or permanently. Wouldn't be surprised to see Rusyn, Aouchiche and Pembele leave either. That's before we start talking about big bids we could get for Ballard, Neil, Clarke and Hume.

Then from the u21s I hope we get some good outgoing loan deals done. Don't just send them to Blyth or Darlo, actually do some research into playing style and find the best fits for them.

I was told there’s interest in Aouchiche from abroad. Wouldn’t be a surprise if he ended up back in France but I’d like to see him in the 10 off a proper forward, under the new manager.

We'd all prefer a Ross Stewart who will do the selfless stuff and pull defenders out of position but to pick up a £10m player for £300k is a rarity.

Wyke didn't really move, but when we had someone with Mcgeadys quality planting the ball on his head he was able to score his fair share.

By hook or crook we need that central goal threat.

Is Stansfield not just as much of a risk considering the price he would command? His data was really quite bad and Birmingham fans weren't exactly singing his praises by the end of the season (granted that could just be them projecting).

It really depends on the style of play the club want to implement as to who I would like us to target in the forward but i'll suggest some anyway.

Rayan Philippe - 23 - Eintract Braunschweig

Excellent in transition and counter attacks, can carry the ball which is something we lack in central areas and can finish and create.

Tobias Lauritsen - 26 - Sparta Rotterdam

Been linked to Serie A so unsure on how realistic this is. Tall, powerful finisher and thrives on crosses and first time finishes. Good technique as well.

Igor Matanovic - 21 - Eintract Frankfurt

@Scout73 's favourite. Another tall, powerful player. Love his link play.

Joe Gelhardt - 22 - Leeds

If we are going to play a possession style again I would sign Gelhardt and aim to sign goalscoring wide players.

Troy Parrott - 22 - Spurs

Had some bad loans to the championship but was really good for Excelsior this season. Scores and creates.

Killian Corredor - 23 - Rodez

Similar player to Gelhardt but has more goals to his game.

Theo Bair - 24 - Motherwell

Raw but from what I have seen he has all to tools to be a high level forward just needs to put it together. Excellent in the air.

At the end of the day, every signing, especially forwards, is a risk. If we had a defined play style it would be much easier to target players.

It depends on the price but a 21 year old notching 12 goals for a relegated side is impressive in my book and suggests there'd be a lot more to come in a better team.

He'd be well worth a decent chunk of cash imo. Would only add value over time.

Of course, but I just have concerns over how his play would translate to different styles of play especially if you are going to be paying out serious cash. You can get better players for less money who have a wider set of skills.

How much do you reckon he'd go for? I haven't got a clue these days.

He looks like a versatile player who could adapt to different roles to me. No doubt there are better value options and if we can get Hume but a CF then great, but there's something to be said for not ****ing about any more and spending solid money on a proven championship goalscorer.

Not like the money would go to waste his value will only grow over time.

My guess is they'd ask for 8-10million. On a long contract, young, English. Similar money to Cannon.
