Of course its expected, he has been out injured for 18 months and imo not of the quality to play for a team pushing for promotion The key is strengthing in CM but the club are right to not extend him
That's steep, especially for a defender who isn't great on the ball in the modern game. Think you can pick up better for much cheaper if you get creative in the market.
Am I wrong in thinking the club are letting twitter accounts trail news? If they are am I also wrong in thinking that is poor form? Cant they release the news first?
I think its more that its leaking than intentional. Evans and Dack have probably told a fair few people and the club won't announce anything until they do the retained list.
I think at the time Pritchard was expected to be moved on. Mowbray wasnt happy with the makeup of the squad as it was, rightly so. He got his way with Dack, a player to bring some experience. And also of course a player who had been very good in the championship under Mowbray previously. It turned out badly in a number of ways, for us and him. He is only 30, and arguably should still have 2 or 3 good years left, but he looks a player whose injuries have left a mark.
CM is one area where we absolutely have to spend whatever is necessary. No ifs, no buts, no ten stone beanpole French teenagers from Sacre Bleu FC under 21s who'll need two years to settle in and don't know their best position.
I think the club know they can’t do it again so I do think we will change our approach slightly, my only worry is this season may have put some players off coming here. But would we want players that fickle? Annoyingly, after finishing so highly last season that was the time to try and attract the CDM or strikers we desperately needed. It was a huge missed opportunity. Time will tell I suppose.
Hopefully he was a good influence in the dressing room as it didn't really work out on the pitch. His fitness never really got off the ground while he was here, his wife being a Love Island and Instagram 'star' meant fans gave him grief for not focusing on football. In reality, two concurrent ACL injuries in 21/22 almost certainly had an affect on his long term fitness.
How old was he when on loan with us? Can't see us signing a player like this on loan these days! I guess City will be looking for another loan, he is probably in their long term plans to play for them? I think only players we should go for on loan are the flair types who can change a game out of nowhere (Amad), players that we would struggle to get in on a permanent. A good solid cb we are probably able to sign on permanent like we did with big Dan!
