Look at Rotherham. There keeper is hot **** by all accounts.

He's garbage with his feet though.

As someone posted a few pages back (sorry I can't remember who) if you want experience, quality and affordability you likely have to sacrifice one. Getting a keeper who's good with his hands and feet and has some experience at this level is so difficult and realistically not affordable. That's why you end up taking a punt on a younger keeper from a foreign league like Pandur.

their first goal
not only is alsopps positioning pathetic for a professional keeper

but he's so slow to get down, he's like a sloth

Allsop has the worst reactions and positioning of any goalkeeper I’ve seen play at City in my lifetime. I’m sure there’s been worse ones before my time but I haven’t seen one.

He looks like someone who prefers to play outfield but drew the short straw in PE and is forced to play in goal, rather than a professional keeper.

It seems he must spend most of his time training to be a sweeper with the ball at his feet and very little actually trying to get hold of the ball. These goalkeeping coaches have a right cushy job. Mind you, it's not all their fault, is it?

Giles and Jacob were both unavailable to start, so the question was who to bring in to replace Jacob. We went with Coyle who has played there a fair bit and done fine, and did fine yesterday too.
Not even sure why this is a talking point.
and
That would have been ****ing the defence around more than simply bringing Coyle in as a straight swap for Jacob was.
Coyle looked incredibly awkward all during the half he played. Clear as daylight. Likely a mixture of him being a RB playing LB (or more accurately, left side of a 3 which it was for the most part) and him clearly not being fit.
So, playing a(n injured) RB at LB and moving a Midfielder to play at RB, whilst also making it a mix between a back 3 and 4 was less ****ing things around than playing a CB at CB, a RB at RB and Greaves at LB? Ok, got it.
Could also have played Christie who is a RB at RB rather than go with an injured RB at LB.
Such a **** up it's hard to keep up with it!! .... edit, so much so that I forgot to add bringing on an injured / clearly not right LB in place of the RB playing at LB..
Brady is right, Rosenior clearly doesn't rate McLoughlin. Better to **** everything around and start with injured out of position players instead. Rosenior genius.

Doing a search on posts with Ingram, these are picked out of the first few pages. Doesn't mean he never got praise, but perhaps a counter to the idea that Allsop's the only keeper who makes mistakes:

And that was harsh too. He wasn't that bad either.

I remember back in the glory days Myhill used to make a few big errors a season but people understood that he was a great keeper on the whole. Not sure he'd have got the same backing if he played now.

Marshall was **** you keep making out he wasn’t
He was

Had a great career before and after playing for us. Ask any fans of his other clubs or Scotland and they'd rave about him. He made PL team of the season at one point FFS. He became a target here for conceding 6 at Liverpool and a few other high scores early on and people never liked that he took Jakupovic's spot. It was ****ing stupid.

Coyle's played well at left back plenty of times, Slater's played well at right back, McLoughlin isn't mobile enough to play against a team like Boro, Christie's not mobile enough to play against anyone nowadays.

Our left backs were injured, we muddled by, there was absolutely nothing wrong with the team selection, we played well despite these issues.

Seeking to find negatives after ever game is a very odd pastime.

Again I don’t give a **** what he did at other clubs

Your view, fair enough.
I didn't see it that way at all.
Yes, Coyle has done a decent fill in at LB a few times now. However, it was clear from the off that Coyle wasn't right there at all. Slater has also filled in at RB, and been mixed.
McL really isn't that bad. In fact, at times, he's been our best CB, especially against taller opposition.
Rosenior clearly has his favourites, which is fair enough as most managers do, but I personally think he got several calls wrong last night (including subs).
Posting 'negatives' isn't a pastime, nor do I get pleasure from it. I'd much rather post positives, which I do when it's deserved.
Or are the board rules now no politics, no religion, no negatives, no name calling (unless you are a mod [HASHTAG]#obvs[/HASHTAG])?

I think it's true that he doesn't rate McLoughlin. The rest of your post is a weird twisting of what happened. We didn't move a midfielder anywhere. Slater started the last game at RB and no one had an issue with it, he stayed there last night. Last night Jacob was unavailable so Coyle came straight in for him. One straight swap, there was no messing about or moving people around. What you have suggested would've involved moving people around.

Ah right. Slater is now a RB. Ok.
Anyway, on with the day ....
