Not for me he hasn't, I called it as soon as we signed allsop about how poor of a GK he actually is and that he's no improvement in that department over Ingram.
If you showed a neutral the highlights of last night, or the Stoke game, or some of the other times Allsop has been blamed, they wouldn't even mention him. He's been unpopular from day one and it's snowballed from there, to the point that he's routinely being blamed for conceding goals from short range that you wouldn't normally expect a keeper to save. The exact same thing happened with Marshall when he replaced the fan favourite Jakupovic, people didn't like it and he was a target from day one.
You keep not understanding, or refusing to understand, that that is part of the game plan. He's not just wandering up to the halfway line because he's not paying attention. We man-mark sometimes and when we do that it involves people moving all over rather than staying in rigid positions. Criticise that strategy if you like but it's straight up wrong to say that Greaves specifically was making a mistake by being there; he was just doing the job he was supposed to do in that system at that time.
It's not just last night though is it? Boro fans said he was lightweight in defence and for someone arriving with such a big reputation I can't think of a single game when I've thought he was an upgrade on Matty Jacob, let alone worth £4m.
Surprised nobody seems to have mentioned this so far ..... So, he's saying Jacob had a sore calf (bless), Coyle was clearly not right, neither was Giles. So why the **** didn't he simply bring Macca in and put Greaves LB (or vice versa) instead of ****ing the whole defence around and playing players who were clearly not on it.
When I am standing right behind the goal at matches I am amazed that the goalkeepers save so many shots. It's certainly not easy.
That would have been ****ing the defence around more than simply bringing Coyle in as a straight swap for Jacob was. I know you like to find as many things as possible to be mad about but you're trying too hard on that one.
Giles clearly said he felt okay to play, otherwise he wouldn't have put him on and if you've got a left back available, it ****s the defence up less than playing players out of position.
Play Coyle at right back. If he's injured I would move Jones across but given we got Christie some people would see him as the replacement. Play Jones and Greaves as centre backs. If one is not available bring in Macca. Play Giles or Jacob at left back. I am a believer in playing players in their natural position.
Giles and Jacob were both unavailable to start, so the question was who to bring in to replace Jacob. We went with Coyle who has played there a fair bit and done fine, and did fine yesterday too. Not even sure why this is a talking point.
Didnt we have two one on one's with the keeper and failed to score? When we were given offside with just the keeper to beat we lobbed perfectly without pressure. I cant remember if it was Jaden or Carvhalo.
How did you rate Tufan last night? As you always think he's ****e when everyone else has him down as one of the first names in the team and there MOM. So majority of people are calling out Allsop for being utter gash when it is actually called for then there's you who calls out Tufan for being useless when he's having a decent game. Bit hypocritical.
