New Allsop has cost us a lot of points this season. Yeah, he might spray the odd ball about, but the rest of the time it's within the capabilities of any keeper to pass it around the back. It's not just the odd clanger, it's routine saves. How he is a championship keeper is beyond me. That one is on Liam. He's the worst tier 2 keeper we've had since Iain Hesford. Cardiff fans were right and I've lost count of the number of times he's been beaten at his near post. What's the point of having a keeper who is good with his feet but sh1te with his hands? If you look at the number of assists (or even good passes) he has due to his "wand of a foot" against the number of soft goals he's conceded, then he's cost us. What does it mean for a keeper to be good with his feet anyway if all he is doing is passing the ball around the back 4 -which is what Allsop mainly does. He rarely sees the run of a forward player when the ball should be played long. We aren't going up this year and if he's 1st choice keeper next year then we won't be going up then either. Of course it's not solely his fault we aren't going up - failure to break teams down at home and lack of clinical finishing are equally to blame -but his errors have been a considerable factor.
Didn't Rosie say we didn't need a midfield enforcer at some stage? Why for their second goal last night did no one commit a cynical / professional foul? We never seem to do that. If that was against a West Brom, TWS, Southampton or Leicester, they wouldn't just have been allowed to run through us.
I'm sure some agree, but I'm pretty sure we'd have more points on the bored if we'd stuck with Ingram, yes he might not be able to ping a long ball ( that we tend to do nothing with anyway ) but he's a much much better GK then allsop
First half Omur out of position Slater never a full back both doing their best but positioning gave Boro freedom down our left with their long ball . We sorted after about a half hour . Biggest gripe was the only outball we had was a 40 yd ball to Slater stood at the half way sideline time after time no one near him waiting for the ball , and both greaves and Jones chip down the left on a 50/50 at best we were all going mad it must have happened 10 plus times. Our right side frailties when opposite to Liam have happened week after week - when we turn round and they are near him it’s not a problem !! Cmon Liam watch the match again you’ll see it !
The way we play, Ingram couldn't cope with, it's precisely why he was replaced. If he'd stayed in goal and we played the way we do now, we'd have far less points, as he'd have gifted the opposition at least a goal a game. The Doncaster game was quite possibly the worst keeping display I've ever watched live.
Nothing dramatic about it, it's just my opinion (though I was hardly alone in that view), though for those with a short memory... 'There were jeers throughout the first half as Matt Ingram held onto the ball for long periods and in the second, those jeers turned into boos, and come full-time, those that had remained inside the MKM Stadium, made their feelings known'.
Yes that was poor in distribution terms, but the defence / other players were equally culpable as no-one was able to find space for a pass. Donny went man for man and no one knew what to do - not just Ingram
I think it's true that Allsopp gets judged harshly at times but he does clearly have an issue with saves at the near post or close to his body. Unfortunately, I think this is well-known now and I'm sure the opposition are told where to place shots. It's time to see what Pandur can do and if he doesn't seem ready or up to it then we should be looking for a new No1 in the summer.
I thought he had I think I remember him passing from the left into the six yard box and somebody turning it in.
Ingram has improved beyond measure every week he hasn't played. It's almost like people have had a memory wipe of how bad he was in the sweeper keeper role.
