Corbyn being leader would be the only chance the Conservatives would have of getting voted back in...

 

The main point is that this was data collected before the Frank Hester ****storm even registered on the radar. It will get a lot worse for the Tories next week.

 

It makes you wonder when they actually are going to call an election. I guess they are hoping that Labour make some kind of major mistake and then they call one after that. Or maybe force something through on rwanda. But surely their internal polls must show that this isn’t going to help them. Right wing channels have also spotted how the current plan is nonsense and has no net impact as we take people from rwanda as well.

 

This is a bit of an odd post and makes you come across as one of those weird incel dudes who hates women.

Why shouldn't someone be upset if they can't have casual sex? And it's a bit of a strange assumption to make that they didn't do that anyway.

 

Astonishing that there are still people out there who believe Corbyn was some extremely popular politician who was just a bit misunderstood.

Easily one of the least popular UK politicians of my lifetime. Vast majority of my friends and family are labour voters but none of them could stand them and refused to vote for him.

 

You expect people to accept reddit posts and similar platforms for crackpot conspiraloons as credible sources but refute peer reviewed scientific papers or studies from world renowned medical bodies. No credibility whatsoever in any of your arguments on this and other subjects.

Unfortinately, I feel Corbyn's time has now been and gone. He was unfortunate to narrowly miss out in 2016 and I feel would have got in if he had had an opinion on Brexit. I do not feel that the EU really interested him and that both that election and the following on where he was smashed would have beem more successful in both instances has this not been so dominated by that issue. Membership of the Labour Party went up under his tenure and I feel the whole "Youthquake" scenario felt real and not simply fabricated by the press. I appreciate that there were many who disliked him and this was because they knew that they were the kind of people that hos government would have targeted. However, I would argue that there were many within the Labour Party who were inspired by him and felt that he was the first leader we had had for generations who truly reflected the opinions of most members. Even at a local scale, there are people within my local Labour branch who have commincated with me through email that they are disheartened by Starmer's re-heated New Labour act and pine for his return.

I would also add that I do think that it would have been John McDonnell who would have been very much the force stearing a Corbyn government. There were allegedly plans in place to address this country's media which would have ensured that Britain in 2024 would be in a totally different mindset than it is today. The press crucified Corbyn and he was further undermined by the parliamentary Labour Party who were continually breifing against him. It is a shame that his stewardship existed at the same time as Brexit was such an issue. I think he would probably face a backlash against immigration if he had been in power as those who were opposed him would have attacked him for his Internationalist mindset which clashes with a lot of the immature, knee-jerk popularist opinions. A Corbyn government would have addressed the imbalance between business and the Trade Unions whose role has been dminished by successive governments since 1979. I am not sure Corbyn would have kept us in the EU but I would have liked to have thought he could have been convinced to remain and re-address the focus of the EU from pro-business to pro-people. He would have addressed inequalities due to wealth and I think would have made moves to take us out of NATO - something I hope will still happen. We would also have a more balanced and more moral media. In my opinion, we missed an opportunity to make some important decisions that would have shaped the UK for the better had he been elected. It was a genuinely exciting period to be a socialist - not only because of how close he came to realising his vision for this country but also because this he was the first political leader from the UK who I witnessed inspiring other politically - minded people in the rest of Europe. This is something I have personl experience of. I got pulled aside at a jazz festival in France by two more senior blokes who felt that a Corbyn election victory would have been a victory for Europe and emboldened the Left on the continent . In my opinion, it was an incredible time in British politics. Now the Labour Party has a leader none of it;s members want and whose "success" is due to the unpopularity of the party in government as opposed to anything he has done. If he gets elected, I think the honeymoon period for him will be remarkably swift. Had Corbyn been elected in 2016, it would have been the UK's Obama moment.

On 6 August 1997 she met with the Sinn Féin leader Gerry Adams to have "their first face to face discussions since the breakdown of the IRA ceasefire in February 1996".
She was successful in helping to restore the second IRA ceasefire which eventually led to Sinn Féin being included in the multi-party peace talks. The talks led to the Good Friday/Belfast Agreement achieved on 10 April 1998, bringing an end to conflict in Northern Ireland known as the Troubles.

 

All this will do is add another ex PM with entitlement to security cover for life and, presumably, a better pension for her, if she is selected to take over from Rishi No Sac.
Still it’s only taxpayers money, which is why the Tories don’t care that by not having a general election on the same day as the local elections it will cost in the region of an extra £33 million to organise a second election and staff it etc when they do find the balls to call it.
