Will put this on here, as there are still so many climate deniers in politics, but the average winter temperature, where I am, has set a record high, being 2.3C degrees above average. My car registered 32C today, dropping to 28C. Crazy weather. State weather agency AEMET has revealed that our region, and especially our province of Alicante has seen the highest average winter temperature since records began back in 1869. While the rest of Spain recorded average temperatures that were 1.9c above average, our province recorded temperatures that were 2.3c above the normal. The lack of rain was evident, with the only significant day in three months occurring on January 19th, with a tiny bit on February 8th and 9th. There remains very little signs of significant rain occurring during March, and in fact AEMET say that next week could see shade temperatures of 25c, with some isolated areas south of Alicante possibly seeing 30c. Some like it hot. Phew wot a scorcha! Climate change deniers will have none of the overwhelming scientific evidence. They've been hooked by the fossil fuel lobby to believe whatever suits their agenda.

Yes and your trade offs were clearly serious. I agree with your comment about trade offs. Risk v reward should be the first consideration. Not an imagined mental disorder. I have no problem with consenting adults taking these drugs. If they really wish to harm themselves for an imagined illness then fair play- AS LONG AS they are accurately informed of the side effects. (Which are extensive and horrific btw) But to lie that they are safe and then push them on children is abuse
Latest poll, taken on 7th March before the Hester story broke: This would equate to the Tories winning just 24 seats, with Labour winning 537, and a majority of 424. The Lib Dem’s would form the Official Opposition with 48 seats.
As soon as there is a decent and interesting political debate in here, the gender identity issue gets dragged in again. There are so quite interesting developments in the world of politics and I am surprised that the treatment of Diane Abbott during PMQs has not got more legs. I am really disappointed by Starmer's behaviour as he is shpwing himself to be a hypocrite. If the poll is correct and the Labour lead is realistic, I wonder how comprehensive it would be if people genuinely supported him as oppose to perceiving him as a more palatable alternative to the Conservatives. It is a shame that Corbyn was replace as the leader as I think he would be more favoured . I would be interested to see if Starmer got elected, how quickly the Left would push to replace him with a more Left-leaning alternative if things went wrong quickly. With a decent majority, I think an alternative candidate from the Left would be able to make some of the chnages that this country desperately needs but is afraid to address.
I think it’s probably genuine as well. I don’t know anyone that would vote conservative again, even die hard conservatives. They’re a joke of a party
They are legit losing support from both sides. But only seem to be trying to halt the loss from the right which I’m not sure they will be able to
No. They won’t. As a right leaning person even I would rather labour get in than the Tory’s in their current form.
Schad, you should spend some time browsing this subreddit so you can see what your insane ideology causes:
This is the one from a flurry on that Twitter account. There are others with Labour at 41-42 and Conservatives at 27 ish. Smallest gap is 15 points. Largest is this one at 28. Quite a big range. Interestingly the other parties all stay roughly the same with the variance being between the two main ones
“I’m not able to have casual sex”. And? So what? That puts said person in line with the majority of the population and likely their own position pre surgery as well. Might be a weird thing to pick up on but of all the things in that particular post it was odd of the op to specifically call that part out
And people who are further to the right will go reform or no one. People who do more than lean right have blotting but disdain for Sunak and co and actually try to claim this is the most left wing government ever (I have heard them). I think they mainly mean with regards to immigration and social issues
The regret rate of people who get gender-affirming surgery is about 1%: https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC8099405/ The regret rate of women who get breast augmentation is over 20%: https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC10299769/ Weird that Os isn't railing against the insane ideology that leads women to strap underripe cantaloupes to their chests, even though that procedure has a rather high regret rate (and a lot of serious complications), whereas gender-affirming surgery has an incredibly low regret rate (I literally cannot find another procedure with a lower one). Worth noting that part of the reason gender-affirming surgery has such a low regret rate is that you have to complete the trials of Hercules to actually have it performed, whereas anyone with a few grand in cash to burn can walk in and have their breasts augmented tomorrow, no questions asked. On the bright side, posting Reddit anecdotes is getting closer to actual data, I suppose.
I think the point she was trying to make, somewhat clumsily, was that the racism experienced by black people is more extreme than that experienced by other minorities. And that may be true in the U.K. today, but I’m not sure how she is qualified to make that call in regard to Jews and Gypsies etc, who less than a century ago faced extermination in Nazi death camps. So it was a very insensitive thing for her to say.
I think Labour will lose a lot of votes in some areas to Respect. The lead given to Starmer is too optimistic. I think that a lot of people will notbother to vote.
